Taking the oversight: G1983 – looking diligently to, taking the oversight.

Sheep don’t tend themselves. They must be shepherded with tender care.

Constraint: G317 – compulsorily.

Willingly: G1596 – voluntarily. [God is still taking volunteers!].

Ready mind: G4290 – willingly; with alacrity.

No one can make us minister. We either accept the ministry willingly [asking God’s help]; or

We should all, always be preparing [Study, Prayer, Witnessing], to assume more responsibility for The Lord.

3 Neither as being lords over [God's] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh [is] one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he [is] about to do.25¶ 요셉이 파라오에게 이르되, 파라오의 꿈은 하나이니이다. [하나님]께서 친히 하시고자 하는 일을 파라오에게 보이셨나이다.

[How did Joseph know this?] 4

요셉은 이 일을 어떻게 알았을까요?

How could Joseph know this? We have to remember his past dreams, and also fast forward in Scripture to what he does after he becomes the Vice Regent of Egypt, to put this together.

4Do you remember that when Joseph was young - he had dreamed some prophetic dreams ... Twice!

- Sheaves [of grain] were bowing down to him. o His dream was doubled.

- “God hath shewed” Joseph “what he [was] about to do [in the future]”. o These is my thoughts here … I believe that Joseph has been thinking about these dreams that

he had dreamed when he was a boy ever since that time. ▪ He has also been working hard. ▪ He has also been using his head (thinking) and his hands (working).

o He has also been preparing for further responsibility.

Joseph’s dreams involved sheaves of Grain.

Joseph is going to give the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dreams to Pharaoh along with a recommendation. 요셉은 이제 파라오에게 권고사항을 함께 담아 파라오의 꿈 해석을 해줍니다.

- That is an excellent technique for someone who is in ‘support’. 5

Genesis 41:26 The seven good kine [are] seven years; and the seven good ears [are] seven years: the dream [is] one.26좋은 암소 일곱 마리는 일곱 해요, 또 좋은 이삭 일곱 개도 일곱 해니 이 꿈은 하나이니이다.

27 And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them [are] seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.27그것들을 따라 올라온 야위고 못생긴 암소 일곱 마리는 일곱 해요, 또 동풍에 말라 속이 빈 이삭 일곱 개도 기근이 드는 일곱 해니.

Missionary; Are you going to preach on Sacred Cows this morning? No.선교사님, 오늘도 신성한 소 이야기를 하려고 하십니까? 아닙니다.

But, I did see this in the news this week! 하지만, 이번 주에 이것을 뉴스에서 봤습니다!

“Joseph’s exceptional forecasting and planning abilities put him on a fast track to promotions. He ascended 6

rapidly from the role of prisoner/superintendent in an Egyptian jail, to Pharaoh’s Chief Logistics Officer with “Prince” in his title. What is less known, however, is that during his years in prison Joseph mastered forecasting techniques, interpreting the dreams of Pharaoh’s former Chief Butler and Chief Baker. Both interpretations were realized, cementing Joseph’s reputation as a master forecaster.

During these years, he also developed an understanding of the Egyptian business cycle. He clearly saw that the nation’s economy was based on a seven-year phase, but lacked the means to convey his findings to senior management. Ibid, above.

[There are parallels between Egypt and two other countries in Northeast Asia.] 이집트와 동북아의 두 나라 사이에는 비슷한 점이 있습니다.8

Questions for your consideration: 8A) What if a certain very famous large dam in a certain country near South Korea broke [failed]? How many people would die/lose their stay of bread for the year? B) Is there any other country in Northeast Asia, close to South Korea, that has a history of famine? C) What if God picked you to ‘fix’ A, B; or both? What would you do?

Well; It is not my problem; I would ignore it. I only care about myself. Or, I only care about IIBC.

Joseph had some time to think about the problem of famine; before he was given the problem to solve.

What do you think?

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses 10unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 8오직 [성령님]께서 너희에게 임하신 뒤에 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아에서 그리고 땅의 맨 끝 지역까지 이르러 나를 위한 증인이 되리라, 하시니라.

Genesis 41:29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:29 보소서, 이집트 온 땅에 두루 일곱 해 큰 풍년이 들겠고.

It is going to start out good. 좋은 일로 시작이 될 것입니다.

30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;30 그 뒤에 일곱 해 기근이 들므로 이집트 땅에서 그 모든 풍성함을 잊게 되고 그 기근이 이 땅을 소멸시킬 것이며.

But it is not going to end with plenty. 하지만 풍족하게 끝나지 않을 것입니다.

31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it [shall be] very grievous.31 또 뒤따르는 그 기근이 매우 심하므로 그것으로 인해 이 땅에서 그 풍성함을 알지 못하게 되리이다.

Grievous – H3515: heavy, difficult, severe. 심한, 혹독한

32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; [it is] because the thing [is] established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.32 파라오께서 꿈을 두 번 겹쳐 꾸신 것은 [하나님]께서 그 일을 굳게 정하셨기 때문이니이다. [하나님]께서 곧 그 일을 행하실 터이니.

Here we come to the second part of the answer Joseph gives. 이제 요셉이 내놓은 대답의 두 번째 부분이 나옵니다.

33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.33 그러므로 이제 파라오께서는 사려 깊고 지혜로운 사람을 골라 그가 이집트 땅을 다스리게 하소서.

Discrete: cunning, diligent. 사려깊은, 근면한11

Wise: H2450 – intelligent. 지혜로운, 총명한12

34 Let Pharaoh do [this], and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.34 파라오께서는 또 이 일을 행하시되 곧 이 땅에 직무 수행자들을 두시어 그 일곱 해 풍년에 이집트 땅의 오분의 일을 취하시고. 13

1/5 [the fifth part] x 7 = 7/5 which is 1 year and 2/5 of a years’ worth of corn [wheat, grain]. 1/5 곱하기 7년 = 7/5, 1과 2/5년 분량에 해당하는 곡식

[BTW, in the next Sermon we are going to do some logistics Biblical war-gaming with this Genesis Chapter 41 example.]. 14

35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.35 그들이 다가올 그 좋은 해 동안에 모든 식량을 거두고 그 곡식을 파라오의 손 밑에 쌓아 두어 도시들 안에 식량을 간직하게 하소서.

Discrete: H995 בין bıyn bene A primitive root; to separate mentally (or distinguish), that is, (generally) 11understand: - attend, consider, be cunning, diligently, direct, discern, eloquent, feel, inform, instruct, have intelligence, know, look well to, mark, perceive, be prudent, regard, (can) skill (-ful), teach, think, (cause, make to, get, give, have) understand (-ing), view, (deal) wise (-ly, man). Total KJV occurrences: 169 Ibid: SC.

Wise: H2450 חכם châkâm khaw-kawm'’From H2449; wise, (that is, intelligent, skilful or artful): - cunning 12(man), subtil, ([un-]), wise ([hearted], man). Total KJV occurrences: 137 , Ibid.

Here we see the Biblical leadership concepts of: Organization, delegation, and follow through.13

There is a parallel here to ‘saving’ up for a rainy day here. Now, one fifth (1/5) is twice the tithe. 14Think about this. If we tithe (10%), and we save (20%); we should learn to live on 70% [or less]. Could you do this?

Gather: H6908 – collect. 거두다

Lay up: H8851 – aggregate. 쌓아 두다 - 모아 두다

Keep: H8104: guard, hedge, protect. 간직하다 - 지키다, 보호하다.15

36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.36 그 식량을 이 땅을 위해 저장하여 이집트 땅에 임할 일곱 해 기근을 대비하시면 이 땅이 그 기근으로 말미암아 멸망하지 아니하리이다, 하니라.

37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.37¶ 그 일이 파라오의 눈과 그의 모든 신하들의 눈에 좋게 보이므로.

Here is a good place for an IIBC Training Tip. 여기는 훈련요령을 말씀드리기 좋은 장면입니다.

Here are three key Biblical words in preparing for famine: Gather, layup, keep. They also apply Pastors 15

tending human sheep. There is a parallel to spiritual warfare here.- Gather God’s Word: Read your Bible everyday.- Lay up: Study God’s Word, Meditate on God’s Word, memorize it.- Keep it: Apply God’s Word to your life. Use it.

Our Senior Pastor gives us a five (or so) question Final Examination every Sunday. Have you noticed that his 16

last question is always a ‘compound’, or a multi-faceted CAPSTONE type of question. I think, that he thinks, that we should be thinking during the sermon. Can you listen and think at the same time? I think that he wants you to.

Explain the slide:

Always be ready to give an answer to your Boss [including The Lord]. 언제나 상사(주님을 포함하여)에게 대답할 준비를 해 놓으십시오.

- Pray ahead. 미리 기도하십시오.17

- Plan ahead. 미리 계획하십시오.

- This requires: Study, much thought, analysis, war gaming, and reflection. 그러러면, 공부하고, 생각하고, 분석하고, 도상훈련을 실시하고, 숙고해야 합니다.

- Present your recommendation. 당신의 생각을 제시하십시오.

- Who, What, When, Where, How, Why, and So What. 누가, 무엇을, 언제, 어디에서, 어떻게, 왜

Ezra, Nehemiah, and the Apostle Paul all did this [Pray, Plan, Present]. Solomon exhorts prior planning in the 17Proverbs.

[That is God’s lane. If you are ‘ready’, He will bless you.]. God will call you forward when He needs you. Do 18your homework - ahead of time.

- Learn how to anticipate. 기대하며 기다리는 방법을 배우십시오.

- Does your Boss ever ask for your opinion at work. 당신의 상사는 직장에서 당신의 의견을 물어봅니까?

38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find [such a one] as this [is], a man in whom the Spirit of God [is]?38 파라오가 자기 신하들에게 이르되, 이 사람같이 속에 [하나님]의 [영]이 거하는 사람을 우리가 찾을 수 있으리요? 하고

Can we find [such a one] as this [is], a man in whom the Spirit of God [is]? 이 사람같이 속에 [하나님]의 [영]이 거하는 사람을 우리가 찾을 수 있으리요?

[Yes] His name is Joseph. (그렇습니다) 그의 이름은 요셉입니다.

39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, [there is] none so discreet and wise as thou [art]:39 요셉에게 이르되, [하나님]께서 이 모든 것을 네게 보여 주셨으니 너와 같이 사려 깊고 지혜로운 자가 없도다.

40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.40 너는 내 집을 다스릴지니라. 내 온 백성이 네 말에 따라 치리를 받으리니 나는 왕좌에서만 너보다 높으리라, 하니라.

41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.41 파라오가 또 요셉에게 이르되, 자, 내가 너를 세워 이집트 온 땅을 다스리게 하노라, 하며

42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;42 자기 손에서 반지를 빼어 요셉의 손에 끼워 주고 그에게 고운 아마 옷을 입히며 금 사슬을 그의 목에 걸어 주고

Joseph: You are hired! 요셉: 당신은 취업이 되었어요!

Joseph got a new ‘second’ car! 요셉은 두 번째 새 차를 받았습니다.

44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I [am] Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.44 파라오가 요셉에게 이르되, 나는 파라오니라. 이집트 온 땅에서 네 허락 없이는 손발을 들 자가 없으리라, 하고.

Joseph is THE Boss. 요셉은 최고의 상관이 되었습니다.

Gen 41:35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of 21Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. - Gather - Lay up - Keep

45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over [all] the land of Egypt. 45 또 요셉의 이름을 사브낫바네아라 하며 온의 제사장 보디베라의 딸 아스낫을 그에게 아내로 주니라. 요셉이 나가서 이집트 온 땅을 돌아보니라.

Zaphnathpaaneah: 사브낫바네아

That is quite a name (15 letters): Revealer of secrets. 22

참 긴 이름입니다 (15글자): 비밀을 드러내는 자

Can we surge farm in the good years to get extra yield? Can we fertilize? What is the transportation system like? What are the grain handling and storage facilities like? What is the best way to store grain over time? What is the most efficient way to solve this problem?

- Did they ensure the grain was dried before transfer/storage? - What about after storage; was the grain moisture tested over time to prevent spoilage? - What about grain predators; how did they protect against them?

- This may also imply that Joseph went beyond saving 1/5th of the harvest. 28

Joseph had some time to think about the problem of famine; before he was given the problem to solve. What do you think? One more question. What would the medical and humanitarian needs be in A and B above? What if God picked you to ‘fix’ them [and enabled you with the resources to do so? He can easily do that]?

What would you do?

Manasseh: For God, [said he], hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house. 30
