Canadian Parents for French (Ontario)

Canadian Parents for French (Ontario) is the Ontario branch of CPF.

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is a national network of volunteers who value French as an integral part of Canada and who are dedicated to the promotion and creation of French Second Language (FSL) learning opportunities young Canadians.

Who are we?

Founded in 1977 by parents who wanted to ensure that children would

have the opportunity to become bilingual in the Canadian school system.

Today CPF is a national organization with its headquarters in Ottawa and branch offices in all

10 provinces and in the Northwest Territories.

What do we offer?Together with a volunteer Board of Directors and volunteer-led Chapters, CPF Ontario offers a broad range of support for French Second Language (FSL) programs across the province, including:

Providing communication resources and financial assistance for Chapter-based programs;

Conducting public awareness campaigns about the benefits of FSL education;

Keeping members informed of important issues and topics with regular e-communiqués;

Providing resource information through a frequently updated website;

Leading member workshops and conferences to stimulate learning and networking across the province.

What are Chapters? Chapters are run by volunteers who promote and

distribute information about FSL education in their community and work to support local FSL programs;

Chapters create and sponsor extracurricular French experiences for children at the local level;

Chapters receive financial grants from CPF Ontario to help run local programs.

Grants for 2013-2014: French Socio-Cultural, Adult French Course, French Story Time.

1. A minimum of 10 CPF members; 2. An Executive Committee (President, Treasurer and

Membership Secretary);3. A bank account in the Chapter name with a

minimum of two signing officers.

To form a Chapter you must have:

Chapter Benefits65% of the revenue generated from each membership fee goes back to the Chapter; Grants to help support French activities plus a $500 start-up grant;

Access to CPF Ontario's knowledgeable staff and network of volunteers;

Sponsorship of Chapter representatives to conferences;

Free copies of CPF publications and brochures to promote FSL and CPF programs.

programs• Adult French Courses for basic to intermediate learner• The opportunity to network with other parents!

ACTIVITIES IN FRENCH FOR CHILDREN:• French Story Time• French Summer Camp and French Winter Camp• French Movie Night for the entire family• French Homework Club…and more!

SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS:• Distribution of informative CPF brochures at school events• Grant to support French Socio-Cultural events (for school

members).
