Mitchell Henke, Associate Professor

plication through art and poetry.
An opening exhibition, which fea-
tured the music of Jim Guthrie, Asso-

I gave students in my 2016 Presidential
Election class a true or false test on cam-
paign news. They failed. Let’s see how you
do.
True or False #1
In 2013 the attorney general of Florida an-
nounced that she was investigating the Clin-
ton Foundation for fraud. Within days of the
announcement, the Clinton Foundation ille-
gally gave a donation to the attorney gen-
eral's reelection campaign. Shortly thereaf-
ter, the attorney general closed the investi-
gation of the Foundation. A month later,
Bill Clinton appeared at a campaign rally
for the attorney general. The attorney gen-
eral won her reelection race and the Clinton
Foundation was never investigated.
True or False #2
When given the opportunity to denounce
white supremacist David Duke's support of

Ponderings
The trials and tribulations of ordinary medieval life are inter-
esting. Despite the oddity of the behav-iors and beliefs of the inhabit-ants of that world, the echoes of their think-ing remain with us in a variety of
ways, such as the order we eat our meals: starter, main, des-sert.
Takeaways or a meal taken home were available in towns with pie shops, hot meat shops, and inns.
Fast food or a meal on the run was also available from cart vendors who set up shop in the markets and sold pretzels and other foodstuffs to be eaten on the street.
Most people ate two meals a day, dinner (a heavy meal) at midday and sup-per (a light meal) in the evening. Breakfast was a later concept. Lunch was a snack, usually eaten while working.
his candidacy, Donald Trump denied three
times that he knew David Duke, even
though he did. The cock did not crow.
True or False #3
Donald Trump has never made a racist or
bigoted comment. This accusation is made
up by the liberal media.
True or False #4
Hillary Clinton said in March in response to
the email scandal, “I lied. I apologize.”
True or False #5
Donald Trump said in September that it
breaks his heart to think that their might be
blood in the streets if he loses.
True or False #6
Hillary Clinton has told more lies during the
campaign than Donald Trump.
True or False #7
Donald Trump appeared in a Playboy porn
film in 2000.
True or False #8
In the 1970s, Hillary Clinton, while serving
as a law professor at the University of Ar-
kansas readily volunteered to defend a child
rapist. The accused rapist was found not
guilty. Clinton laughed when the verdict
was announced.
True or False #9
Gary Johnson said smoking pot does not
make people stupid.
True or False #10
Gary Johnson, who smokes pot, is stupid.
True or False #11
Donald Trump said during a televised New
Hampshire primary debate that he had the
biggest penis on stage.
True or False #12
Hillary Clinton illegally obtained citizen-
ship for Alicia Machado back in February
in order to mention her during the first pres-
idential debate.
True or False #13
Like mainstream journalists, microphones

True or False #14
Donald Trump said he can
relate to being black be-
cause the system does not
treat him fairly.
True or False #15
Gary Johnson said that he
would eliminate the Depart-
ment of Education because
it does nothing of value, but
would keep the parts that work.
True or False #16
President Obama pledged last week that he
would not pardon Donald Trump for viola-
tion of the U.S. embargo of Cuba.
True or False #17
Taco trucks are dangerous.
True or False #18
Donald Trump called a New York City tele-
vision network on September 11, 2001, and
bragged that he now owned the tallest build-
ing in Manhattan.
True or False #19
Barack Obama will not
release his birth certificate
because it will reveal that
he is white.
True or False #20
In August, Clint East-
wood's 2012 RNC conven-
tion chair announced its
support of Donald Trump,
saying, “As a chair, I feel Trump's just say-
ing what's on his mind. Secretly, I am tired
of political correctness. When I grew up, we
made fun of sofas, but no one called us sofa
haters. Now we are treated like deviants."
