Who can apply in this call?
• EIT Food Partners and Linked Third Parties
Participation of external organisations:
• it is encouraged to engage with external organisations, i.e. organisations outside
the current EIT Food partnership
• Possible upon invitation of an existing EIT Food Partner
• External Organisation must apply to become an EIT Food Network Partner in
2020 – application process outlined in Annex 1 of Call Guidelines; terms of
membership outlined in Partnership Policy available on the
EIT Food website

Eligibility criteria
Proposal will become a KAVA like any other in the 2020 Business Plan (introduced at
amendment stage) → 2020 Call guidelines apply, with a few modifications:
Consortium eligibility requirements
✓ at least two entities from two different countries
✓ lead partner must be a Core Partner of EIT Food or a Linked Third Party
✓ there must be at least one Exploiting Partner that will launch the innovative
solution created (product, service, start-up)
✓ if external organisations contribute to the proposal, the Network Partner
application process must be followed and completed by the call deadline

• Detailed in COVID-19 Rapid Response Call Guidelines
• Focus on significant and immediate impact
• Exceptions to standard conditions include:
✓ Timeline of EITN03 accelerated – market launch required by end Q2 2021
✓ Additional deliverables include business canvas and at least one project report that
will be published
✓ Communication launch on project outputs & outcomes, latest 30 Jan 2021
Further considerations (exceptions)
• Financial Sustainability mechanism is not mandatory, but
recommended – could be decisive in evaluation
• Co-funding is not mandatory, but is encouraged and part
of the evaluation criteria
• Indicative budget range per project: 400KEUR-800KEUR
• KCA contribution, while welcomed, is not required
Call and evaluation processes
• Step 1: Light proposal submission
• Excel application form – available to download from the Call
Guidelines or Plaza
• Application form must be submitted via email to
2020activities@eitfood.eu by midnight, 28 May 2020
• Step 2: Submission of KAVA in the Business Plan 2020 amendment
• Selected proposals will have to complete the usual KAVA proposal
template on Plaza – by 15 July
Call and evaluation processes
• Evaluation criteria
• Evaluation process:
✓ List of projects communicated to EIT on 31 May for pre-amendment review
✓ “Light” proposals reviewed and scored against evaluation criteria by a panel
of EIT Food external reviewers during June
✓ followed by a portfolio composition review and final allocation by the
Management Board
✓ decisions communicated by 1 July at the latest.

HYPE Campaign
• HYPE platform can be used during the ideation phase to identify opportunities and
build consortia (or choose to develop collaborative projects directly via another means,
i.e. offline)
• Upon invitation by EIT Food Partners, external organisations can gain access to the
COVID-19 Rapid Response campaign on the HYPE platform, and then collaborate in idea
generation
• To grant access, the EIT Food Partner must submit a request to
openinnovation@eitfood.eu, providing details of the external organisation name and
contact person (email address), who will then be contacted with a link to gain access to
the HYPE platform
