Mathematical Problem (Weaving) width.Fabric X
PPI X EPIcount weft Xcount warp
Problem: Fabric specification: 1. Calculate the fabric weight of 1000m.
2. Calculate production per hour if PPM=180Solution: Warp calculationEPI = 70Width of fabric = 60 inchSo, Total no. of warp = 70 X 60 = 4200
Now, Length of each warp = 1000m + 1000 X 3% [3% = crimp] = 1030m.
Total length of the warps = 4200 X 1030= 4326000m.= (4326000 X 1.09) = 4715340 yards
Total weight of the warps = pounds [warp count = 10]= 561.35 pounds
Weft calculationPPI = 50 Fabric length = 1000 meter = 1000 X 39.37 inch = 39370 inchSo, Total no. of wefts = 50 X 39370
Now, Length of each weft = 60 + 60 X 5% [crimp = 5%]= 63 inch = 63/36= 1.75 yards
Total length of the wefts = 50 X 39.37 X 1000 X 1.75 yards= 3444875 yards
Total weight of the wefts = Pounds [Weft count = 8]= 512.63 pounds
So total weight of fabric = 561.35+512.63 = 1073.98 pounds(Answer)
= 1073/2.2 = 487.72 kg (Answer)
Again, we know, loom production = PPM/PPI = (180/50) inch/minute= 3.6 inch/minute = (3.6 X 60)/36 = 6 yards/hour (Answer)= (6/1.09) = 5.50 meter/hour (Answer)
Alternate solution: Fabric specification:
Warp calculation
Weight of warps in Kg =
=
= 255.16 kg
Weft calculation
Weight of wefts in Kg =
=
= 233.01 kg
So total weight of fabric = 255.16+233.01 = 488.17 kg (Answer)
Again, loom productions in meter/hour =
=
= 5.50 meter/hour (Answer)
For Practice…………….
Problem 2: Find out Wt. of 5000 m fabric. Fabric specification isProblem 3: Find out the wt. of required warp & weft to produce 5000m fabric
Problem 4: Calculate the yarn consumption of a loom per hour running at 180 PPM for producing fabric.
