COMMUNITY GARDEN CLUB AT WAYNEPRESENTS THE AUTHENTIC GARDENThursday, May 5, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.Radnor Memorial Library, Winsor RoomFREE. A joint endeavor sponsored

by the Radnor Memorial Library and

the Community Garden Club at Wayne. What

makes a garden “authentic”? For American

gardeners, this question can be vexing. Because

America is a comparatively young nation, its

gardeners have tended to turn to other national

traditions for inspiration. The result of this

    stylistic borrowing may overlook local

landscapes and history, and have little connection

with our daily lives. Claire Sawyers, director of

the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College,

shows the five principles that help us create

gardens that are both deeply rooted in their

surroundings and deeply satisfying to their

creators and owners. Contact: Debbie Dooling,
