Code Requirements

Ceiling Height must be at least 7’-6”Opening Height must be at least 24”Opening Width must be at least 20”Minimum net clearing of 5.7 sq ftBottom of opening must be within 44” of floor

Window is 34” wide and 46” tall35” AFF and 11 sq ft

Code Requirements

10” tread 6” rise. Code requires a minimum of 10” tread and 7 ¾” rise with ¾” nose. Stair dimensions meet code.

Concrete Joints

Control joint- an intentional, linear discontinuity in a structure or component, designed to form a plane of weakness where cracking can occur.

Concrete Joints

Isolation joint are used to relieve flexural stresses due to vertical movement of slab-on-grade applications that adjoin fixed foundation elements such as columns, building or machinery foundations, etc. Here the joint adjoins a sidewalk to the slab of a building.

Concrete Masonry Unit

1 CMU (8x8x16)= 3 bricks. CMU- a block of hardened concrete, with or without hollow cores, designed to be laid in the same manner as brick or stone.

Concrete Masonry Unit

6” and 12” CMU blocks

Doors

Transom- a window sash above a door

Sidelights- a strip of vertical glass running alongside a door

Electrical Components

Transformer- a device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors—the transformer's coils.

Electrical Components

Service Head-is a weatherproof entry point for above-ground electrical wiring or telephone lines into a home or business

Electrical Components

Meter- a device that measures the amount of electrical energy supplied to or produced by the residence

Electrical Components

Service Panel-is a component of an electricity supply system which divides an electrical power feed into subsidiary circuits, while providing a protective fuse or circuit breaker for each circuit, in a common enclosure

Electrical Components

Duplex Receptacle-are AC power plugs, that is connectors used for mains electricity (in North America and other countries) that conform to the standards set by the U.S. National Electrical Manufacturers Association

Front End Loader

It that has a front mounted square wide bucket connected to the end of two booms (arms) to scoop up loose material from the ground, such as dirt, sand or gravel, and move it from one place to another without pushing the material across the ground

Gypsum Board

Gypsum Board-gypsum plaster pressed between two thick sheets of paper, then kiln dried

Heat Pump

Advantage- More even temperatures

Disadvantage-Very expensive upfront cost

Air Compressor- cools outside air down to desirable inside temperature

Oriented Strand BoardIt is an engineered wood product formed by layering strands (flakes) of wood in specific orientations. In appearance, it may have a rough and variegated surface with the individual strips (around 2.5 by 15 cm (approx. 1 in by 6 in) each) lying unevenly across each other. It is a nonveneered panel product. It is manufactured in wide mats from cross-oriented layers of thin, rectangular wooden strips compressed and bonded together with wax and resin adhesives (95% wood, 5% wax and resin)

Plumbing

Lavatory- 1 1/2” drain pipe

Plumbing

Water Closet- 3” waste pipe

Plumbing

Vent Through Roofing- it is letting gas escape from the bathroom through the roof instead of letting them stay trapped inside the building Drop In Sink

Plywood

Plywood is a type of Manufactured Wood made from thin sheets of wood, called plies or wood veneers. The layers are glued together so that adjacent plies have their wood grain at right angles to each other for greater strength. There are usually an odd number of plies, as the symmetry makes the board less prone to warping.

A veneer is a thin covering over another surface

Radiant Barrier

A radiant barrier inhibits heat transfer by thermal radiation.

Rebar

½” diameter #8 rebarThe deformation pattern is rolled onto them which helps the concrete get a grip on the bar.

Steep Roof Drainage

Gutter-A narrow channel which collects rainwater from the roof of a building and diverts it away from the structure, typically into a drain

Downspout-a vertical pipe for carrying rainwater from a rain gutter gutter to ground level

Splash block-positioned beneath your downspouts, help direct and distribute that rainwater away from the foundation, to help minimize erosion

Steep Roof MaterialsUnderlayment is used to act as a secondary defense against leakage, and has recently become an essential part of building practices

Clay Tile Roof

Wood Shingle

Shingle-a roof covering consisting of individual overlapping elements

Typically galvanized steel. Like here.

Steep Roof Terms

Ridge-The uppermost, horizontal external angle formed by the intersection of two sloping roof planes.Valley-The internal angle formed by the intersection of two sloping roof planes to provide water runoffEave-The horizontal, lower edge of a sloped roofRake-The inclined edge of a sloped roof over a wall from the eave to the ridge.Soffit- The finished underside of the eavesFascia-Horizontal trim at the eaves that covers the rafter ends

Vapor Retarder

Vapor Retarder is hindering water or condensation from passing through the roof to the insulation. Typically put on the back side.

Waterproofing

Silicone Sealant- used to seal piping and anything else that water isn’t intended to reach. This is liquid applied.

Weep Hole

Weep Holes are small openings left in the outer wall of masonry construction as an outlet for water inside a building to move outside the wall and evaporate

Welded Wire Fabric

Me

Could not find a slab being poured in or around Auburn in the past few weeks so here’s the best I can do. I’m going to call it a 4’x4’ grid
