• Virgil was born 70 BCE to 19 BCE, and grew up during the time of the Roman Civil War.
• Riots were frequent in Rome, and the political scene was in complete turmoil.
• Virgil moved to Naples when he was around 18, and wrote his collection The Eclogues about how living away from Rome is more peaceful.
