UTA Study Abroad – What We Do

OIE Mission Statement:

Encouraging UTA students to study abroad in order to develop a better understanding of other cultures and the world at large, and promoting cooperative programs with institutions in other countries to facilitate student, faculty, and other academic exchange.

• Supporting UTA students before, during, and after their study abroad experience

• Collaborating with offices across campus (academic units, financial aid, health center, housing, bursar, registrar, veteran’s affairs, student conduct)

Studying Abroad with UTA

Presented to new freshman and transfer students during Summer 2013 orientations

1. Earn UTA Resident Credit

• Not transfer credit

2. Use UTA Financial Aid

• Students are eligible to use the same amount of financial aid they receive on campus for UTA Study Abroad programs

3. Apply for Study Abroad Scholarships

• International Education Fee Scholarship (IEFS)

• Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

• NSEP Boren Scholarship

• Roger and Betty Ruch Study Abroad Scholarship

• Bart Lewis Scholarship

• Tony Litsey Scholarship

• Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship

• And many more!

▫ Some programs have earlier deadlines; check particular program page for details

• Faculty-led Programs ▫ Group of students travels with UTA faculty member ▫ 8-10 programs each year, typically during summer

• Exchange Programs ▫ Direct exchange of students between UTA and

university abroad ▫ 20 exchange partners

• Affiliated Provider Programs ▫ Working with study abroad provider organizations,

UTA students go abroad ▫ 10 approved providers
