end 90: first website. Information on associations, adresses, dates, start group email, less snail mail
2 years ago: new website with more flexibility: CMS, information on associations, proceedings, projects, ....
last year: Cluj, presentation on new tools, setup WIKI, no response
What do we want?
1.do we want improvement in collaboration and the sharing of knowledge ?
2.why ? give some arguments
3.how? give some ideas
Where are we now?
Internet changed We have the tools to become a
community Do we want to use it? What do we need to make it happen?
Internet changed
retrieve information
one-way direction websites static user a consumer
no email, but communicating online (facebook, hyves)
people publish journals, photographs, blogs
web a two-way street. No high tech- skills needed
user is producer and communicator
Social software
allows to interact and share data with other users.
enables collaborative work knowledge creation and storage carried
out through collaborative writing we can create actual online communities
Blogs
like online journals for a particular person
owner will post a message periodically, allowing others to comment
blogs allow comments on the entries, thereby creating a discussion forum
can become professional conversation
WIKI
a website that can be quickly and collaboratively created.
Teachers use wikis to communicate and collaborate with students.
Class wikis include text, pictures, links to other resources and multimedia.
Students collaborate their knowledge and learn from each other
IDEC could do this too!
Social bookmarking
post your list of bookmarks or favorites websites for others to search and view them
examples: diggo, del.icio.us easy integrated in your browser
Social libraries
allows visitors to keep track of their collectibles, books, records, and DVDs
users share their collections. recommendations can be generated based on user ratings
example: LibraryThing
