UPDATING YOUR FACULTY PROFILE Step 1: Acquire your login information UCLA Luskin supplies a unique username and password that are linked to your online faculty profile.

Step 2: Log in to the site
Go to: luskin.ucla.edu/user Username: [Supplied by UCLA Luskin] Password: [Supplied by UCLA Luskin]
! Forgot your username or password? Contact helpme@luskin.ucla.edu.
Step 3: Use the Faculty Dashboard to edit your
profile
After logging in, click the small wrench in the upper left corner of the screen. This will open the Faculty Dashboard. On the Faculty Dashboard, select User Menu and My Dashboard. Click Edit/Update Profile on the subsequent screen. This will bring up the Faculty Profile editing tool.
The Faculty Profile editing tool will let you modify, add or remove numerous elements of your publicly accessible faculty biographical statement. Note: Whenever you are logged in, the Faculty Dashboard will display on all pages on the UCLA Luskin site. This function may cause formatting and layout of the site to adjust accordingly. To hide the Faculty Dashboard and simplify browsing, simply click the small “X” in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 4: Editing your Faculty Profile The following categories affect how your profile is displayed. Headshot: You may upload a personal headshot. If you do not have one on file, contact UCLA Luskin Communications (news@luskin.ucla.edu) for assistance. Headshot Crop Area: Allows you to select the best part of your picture to fit the site’s image display parameters. First Name, Last Name: Lists on the site are sorted alphabetically by last name, so keep that in mind when entering text here (de Guzman, van Beethoven). If you use your middle initial or full middle name professionally, include it in the First Name field. Section: Department or program with which you are affiliated. For multiple affiliations, hold down Ctrl (PC) or Command (Mac) while clicking to select multiple items in the list. Position: Your professional title at UCLA, such as “Assistant Professor of Social Welfare,” “Professor of Public Policy, Public Health and Law,” or “Professor of Urban Planning and Director, Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies.” Degrees: Include at least your highest degree earned, School, University, and Year. Bio: Insert a brief (no more than four paragraph) prose biographical statement. Avoid comprehensive lists of publications or achievements – those are best reserved for your complete CV (see below). Formatting functions are contained in the ribbon above the text box.
! Note: When copying and pasting from a Word document, use the Paste From Word function to preserve formatting.
Areas of Interest: Select between one and five areas of scholarly interest. These are used on the site to help identify common research areas of our faculty. For multiple interests, hold down Ctrl (PC) or Command (Mac) while clicking to select multiple items in the list. PDF of CV: You are encouraged to upload a PDF of your current CV. Downloads: If you have other PDFs you wish to make public, such as publications, reports or statements, use this function to upload and display them on your profile. Phone number: Your public UCLA phone number. Email address: Your public UCLA email address. Fax number: Your UCLA fax number. Social Media information (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, blog): If you care to be contacted through your social media accounts, use these inputs. For Admins Only: (This functionality is deprecated) File attachments: This input allows you to store documents of a variety of different formats on UCLA Luskin server space for reference elsewhere on the Internet. Unless referenced using a hyperlink in a text field, they will not be displayed on your profile. Use the Upload function to navigate to the document you wish to store, and then copy the resulting link for use on blogs or other social media, or in emails to colleagues. Note the 500MB file limit, and please respect copyright laws. Be sure to click Save when complete! Changes will be reflected immediately on your public profile. Questions? Step 5: Adding Extras Once your profile is complete, you may add a range of additional elements relevant to your scholarship.
On the Faculty Dashboard, select User Menu and My Dashboard. (You may need to click the small wrench to access the Faculty Dashboard.) Navigate the tabs to add or edit additional content. The following categories are most relevant to UCLA Luskin’s website. To learn more about other categories of content, contact news@luskin.ucla.edu: 1. Video: Embed a YouTube video in the right column of your publicly
accessible faculty profile.
2. Full Publication: Post key information and upload a PDF (if applicable) of an article, book or other publication you have written. This information will be listed in the right column of your publicly accessible faculty profile. ! Want to change the order of your publications?
Adjust the “weight” of a publication to make it appear higher or lower on your publications list. Bigger numbers have greater weight and will appear lower on your list. Use negative values to move items to the top of your list.
3. Photo Gallery: Using Flickr’s slideshow feature, embed a gallery of
images in the center column of your publicly accessible faculty profile.
4. Links: Add hyperlinks to other websites in the right column of your publicly accessible faculty profile.
5. Audio: Using an audio hosting service such as SoundCloud, embed a podcast or other audio file in the right column of your publicly accessible faculty profile.
