Aikido unites the elements of self defense, physical fitness and a non-violent philosophy into a modern martial art. It’s history dates back to the Samurai era of Japan. Techniques are based on the simple principal of circular force applied in harmony to redirect the force of an attack.
The founder, Morihei Ueshiba (1882-1969) developed the system based on his lifetime study of combining technical skill and spirit. One of his distinguished students, Gozo Shioda (1915-1994) founded the International Yoskinkai Aikido Federation.
Yoshinkan Aikido concentrates on funda-mental basic movements and techniques, many of which have practical self defense applications.
The Aiki Budo Centre is the only licensed, internationally recognized and registered club in London. We hanve mem-bers who train full time in Japan and at other registered clubs worldwide.
