A brief background to collaboration
MSIS 2012OECD’s Statistical Information System Collaboration Community
• Sharing of OECD’s statistical information systems modules:– StatWorks– MetaStore– OECD.Stat (including OECD eXplorer)
• First shared with IMF in 2007 as a joint development project• Today there are 7 members in addition to OECD as lead• Based on bilateral agreements Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) signed with each organisation,• Interest has now grown with strong and formal expressions of
interests from a number of other institutions.
Many obvious advantages
MSIS 2012OECD’s Statistical Information System Collaboration Community
• Savings in time and resources• Enables standards (such as SDMX)• Gives a positive message to stakeholders• Facilitates creation of joint products• In line with the HLG-BAS philosophy
Enabling standards: SDMX
• Data exchanges with NSOs (iStat, ABS)• Data exchanges with other IOs (IMF..)

New Visualisations – the integration of eXplorer
• .Stat now includes eXplorer visualisation component,• any data selection from the 700+ datasets available can now
be viewed as an animated graphic using:– maps, – bubble charts, – line charts ,– and histograms.
• Visualisations can be customised and shared among groups,• provides a new dimension for data discovery and storytelling
based on the latest available data.
