Burton Memorial Food Pantry

Every week, 50-60 Families visit the Burton Memorial Food Pantry in Tavernier.

They receive enough food for 5-7 days.

Families in need can enjoy a free meal at God’s Kitchen on Thursday evenings.

The Domestic Abuse Shelter is the only certified emergency shelter in Monroe County that provides refuge for victims of domestic and sexual violence and their children.

Florida Keys Outreach Coalition understands the special needs of homeless young children and families.

The Jelsema Center in Tavernier is an emergency shelter for children, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Five days a week, Grace Jones provides meals and care for children from 100 low-income families.

Because kids were

still hungry on the

weekend, Grace Jones

now provides

backpacks stocked with

nutritious weekend

food.

The program has expanded to other

community centers. Now Grace Jones Back Packs 4 Kids provides 13,000 backpacks with

food, at a cost of $112,092.

HELPLINE provides 24-hour crisis intervention, information and referral services.

Thousands of Monroe County people who need urgent help call each year.

The KAIR Food Pantry in Marathon provides fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy to our hungry neighbors.

Every month, MARC serves over 2000 nutritious meals to adults and teens

MARC clients are weighed weekly, with the goal of decreasing obesity.

MARC is working to help reduce poverty, providing job training in its Rainbow Café.

Star of the Seas provides food (50,000 pounds per month), clothing, and homeless prevention.

In 2012 alone, Star of the Sea will provide $112,000 in rental assistance to Keys residents.

Every month in the Keys, Wesley House serves 505 children whose family cannot afford day care.

The children at Wesley House come from families who are 200% below the Federal Poverty guidelines.

The United Way’s gift to Wesley house is matched by the state 16:1 for a total of $1,858,000 to help children.

Womankind offers breast health services including exams for all women & vouchers for mammograms for uninsured women.

Womankind’s Teen Clinic provides a safe, nurturing place for young people to learn how to make responsible choices about their health. Most services are free!

The YMCA provides services for over 300 children in the Upper

Keys.

Every child is welcome, regardless of his or her family’s ability to pay

program fees.

Summer camp at the YMCA now includes programs and field trips based on Marine Science and Literacy.

Programs at the YMCA focus on building the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
