Understanding the Act of Prayer

Based out of a formerly vacant facility in Woodstock, Georgia, His Hands Church provides a variety of services to its congregation and the local community. Every Sunday morning, for example, His Hands Church offers an ongoing, eight-part course called Jesus 101, designed to educate individuals on the core aspects of faith and prayer.

Understanding the Act of Prayer

Individuals of various faiths engage in a wide range of activities collectively referred to as prayer. However, the act of praying can sometimes be difficult to understand, particularly for younger individuals. At its core, prayer entails some form of dialogue or communication between a person or group of people and God. Prayer can literally be viewed as a direct line to heaven over which questions can be posed and doubts or concerns assuaged.

Sometimes a person may not know what to say or do while praying. While a certain etiquette may be expected in a public setting, praying should be an intimate and personal act that happens in any way that feels comfortable. During prayer a person may ask for forgiveness, express desires, or simply thank God for blessings received .
