To maximize the impact of the health science research and to provide a go-‐to center for healthcare companies we have created the Northern Health Science
Alliance (NHSA), a collabora@on across eight of England's great ci@es across a
popula@on of 15m people.
A func>oning health partnership for the North of England
The NHSA Members and Northern Ecosystem • 1,000 life science business suppor/ng approximately employing 38,000 high skilled jobs.
• £10.8Bn -‐ Combined turnover of the 1000+ life sciences & healthcare businesses
• N8 universi/es have a Regional Gross Added Value of £22.7m (22.7% of UK total).
• 15m popula>on combined with strengths in bioinforma/cs and a collabora/ve ecosystem providing a plaVorm for investment.
• N8 Universi/es bring in £800m in research income (19.4% of the UK total) and are awarded £295m in central funding (19.5% of UK total).
