• The Palestine Police Department in conjunction with Palestine ISD presented a program celebrating the importance of Black History in the PHS Auditorium on February 25th. Guest speakers, Constance Hollie-Jawaid, City of Palestine Chief of Police, Mike Anderson, and city council woman Vicky Chivers shared their inspirational stories. Thank you to the band Gospel Heirs, and the PHS Wildcat Choir for their performances. We appreciate Courtney Acklin and Bernadette Capron for organizing the event.
• Palestine High School Career and Technical Education students recently won first place after producing and entering a video in the SkillsUSA Lowe’s Social Media Challenge. Their video highlights the importance of the Hope Station, a ministry in Palestine dedicated to helping those in and around Anderson County. The Hope Station is located in one of Palestine’s historic buildings which the students have been helping to renovate. The students will receive an award of $25,000 for winning the challenge, which they will use to help out with needed renovations at the Hope Station. These students are learning real world work skills and are enjoying being a part of something bigger than themselves.
• Northside Primary first grade students are learning to read using The Daily 5 method which was implemented this year. The components are: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Work on Writing, Listen to Reading. Students love building reading stamina during Daily 5.
• The Palestine ISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution at the February school board meeting to celebrate Texas Public Schools, so I would like to invite our parents, grandparents, and family members to join Palestine ISD in celebrating Texas Public Schools at your child’s school during the months of February and March.
• I hope our staff found today’s professional development beneficial for students.
• Thank you for all you do!

Softball
• Varsity Lost 1-19Highlights of the game:Infinity Morrow had the only hit of the night and the only score.Ashlynn Hillstead had a great catch in centerfield.Saraya Tiner had a sacrifice hit and pick off at 3rd base. • Coach Chapa: This was the first time that our girls have had to play in tough weather conditions. They learned that we have to push through and persevere. I have no doubt that we will be better prepared next time we face bad weather conditions. I am very proud that we got out there and played. We were the only people in our entire chapter that played yesterday. I feel that it shows a lot about our character and what we want to achieve to be willing to play in any conditions. Thank you to those who came out and supported us in the weather.
• Our varsity softball team competed in the Killeen Tournament. We placed 4th in the silver division with wins over Gateway Prep 11-4 and Waco LaVega 1-0. We had the opportunity to play many 5A and 6A teams and get lots of experience under our belt. A few highlights from this weekend were, 2 separate rundowns between 3rd and home both resulting in outs, a double play by Infinity Morrow, a in the park home run by Ashlynn Hillstead, a delayed stolen base by Taylor Brown that resulted in a score, and many strike outs from Taylor Brown, Jenna Rodgers, and Shelby Songer. Very proud of all these young ladies!!!!

• The second half goals came from Ally Morgan who scored 2 goals, Lauryn James 1, Karina Trejo 1, Isabel Garcia 1, Madison Munoz 1.
