Turkish Delight:30th INTERNATIONAL CARTOON FESTIVAL

NASREDDIN HODJA

Prologue:

On the historical peninsula of Sarayburnu in Istanbul, emperor Justinian I, was built in the 6th century a subterranean structure derives from a large public square on the First Hill of Constantinople, named today the Basilica Cistern, an original forest of Byzantine columns.

15 centuries later, under Mr. Metin Peker presidency, exactly above this historic building (at surface level), was founded the Cartoonists Association, organizer of International Cartoon Contest Nasreddin Hodja reached this year's edition number 30.
