ONLINE PEDIATRIC Sexual assaulT examiner Trainings

U.S. Department of Health and Human ServicesIndian Health Service

Registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, physicians, and physician assistants are invited to attend this web-based pediatrics sexual assault examiner (PSAE) training. Participants will learn the elements of conducting comprehensive pediatrics medical forensic examinations in cases involving sexual assault. This 44 hour online course will cover topics including:

• Trauma Informed Care• Dynamics of Pediatric Sexual

Assault• The Medical Forensic Evaluation• Medical Management• Program/Operational Issues• Patient-Centered Coordinated

Team Approach• The Justice System and Testimony• Vicarious Trauma and Self Care

Registration is free to health care providers from IHS, Tribal, and Urban Indian health care facilities. Health care providers from referral facilities that serve American Indian or Alaska Native victims of sexual assault are also eligible to attend at no cost.
