Fig.1 East Midlands Gateway Site Plan
Electric Bus Charging infrastructure will
be installed on the site to service a site
shuttle bus. There is also the potential
in the medium term for commercial bus
services using the public transport
interchange at the South East corner of
the development to benefit from this
investment. Trickle and Rapid Charging
will be provided to allow for both
overnight and opportunity charging.
The site shuttle will service all
warehousing to the west of the
development and the rail port to North
and East of the site.

2. Assessment 1. Brief description of proposal / policy / service being assessed
A bid has been submitted to the Transforming Cities fund to support improvements to public transport between Nottingham, Derby and the East Midlands Gateway site. The projects selected all aim to improve the efficiency and accessibility of public transport in order to facilitate better access to employment opportunities and key housing and development sites in between the two cities. The projects set to be delivered are the following: 1. An upgrade to the Urban Traffic Control (UTC) System will see a state of the art bus priority system rolled out across the traffic signal network. Additionally, a smart camera traffic management system will collect data which will inform decisions taken within the UTC centre aimed at improving reliability, and congestion for all traffic. 2.Provision of colour LCD screens along bus corridors and at key employer, development and interchange locations. Investment in a data brokerage system will enable non-INIT realtime data feeds to be accepted into the realtime system. 3.Mobile ticketing for the Robin Hood ticket, and a contactless payment upgrade to allow tram and Robin Hood tickets to be purchased, and smart card top-ups to be paid for, contactlessly. 4.Electric charging infrastructure at East Midlands Gateway to support an electric internal shuttle bus service; expansion of electric car charging at bus and tram park and ride sites
