About Transamerica’s TPA Advantage Program1

Transamerica is firmly committed to the TPA community and values mutually beneficial relationships. We understand that your business is competitive so we have built a program that provides you with never-before-seen marketing and sales support, social media resources, access to industry leaders and experts, financial advisor outreach programs, a client management solution, and much more.

How the Program WorksThere are three levels of membership: Elite, VIP and Preferred. Each level is identified by achieving a certain asset level and plan count in a given year.

Elite and VIP Members Elite and VIP members are given credits that may be used to obtain premium services, listed in your member category, up to a capped allotted credit limit. If you would like a particular service or services and do not have enough credits, you may pay out-of-pocket for certain premium services at discounted prices.

Preferred Members Preferred members are not provided with credit allotments, however they are able to purchase–at an exclusive and preferred price–a selection of premium services.

2013 MembershipIf you have met qualification for the 2013 program (based on 2012 sales), congratulations! You will receive more information relating to credit allotments and the credits required for each premium service.

2014 MembershipThe qualifications for the 2014 TPA Advantage Program are as follows:

ELITEAchieve new business of $15 million in assets and 12 plans, or 40 plans in 2013

VIPAchieve new business of $12 million in assets and 10 plans, or 25 plans in 2013

PREFERREDAchieve new business of 5+ plans

Special Privileges and EventsYour membership gets you a seat on the TPA Partners Advisory Council (PAC). PAC is an exclusive, by-invitation-only advisory group that will act as Transamerica’s advisor on a number of issues related to pricing, products, installations, and service offerings. You also receive special invitation to two events:

1. An all-expense paid TPA business owner’s conference where you may interface with Transamerica’s senior leadership, including the Vice President of Operations and Transamerica’s President.

2. An administrator of your choice will be invited to Transamerica’s TPA Administrators Training Institute Conference, where they will receive hands-on training for Transamerica’s technology platform.

MarketingMultimedia Video Development with YouTube Channel Members may have a professional quality, multimedia commercial developed in Transamerica’s own Los Angeles in-house facility. Transamerica will arrange and cover travel and lodging. You may also have your own YouTube Channel created for your new video upon request!

Corporate Brochure or Website Development A specialty of Transamerica is the development of corporate collateral and websites for TPA members. This includes comprehensive collateral development (writing, creative and printing), and new website navigation and design.

Crafting Your “Why” Telling a financial advisor or plan sponsor why they should work with you is challenging. We have tools to help you craft your message and present it to your prospects or financial advisors.

Strategic Consultation Services Operational Efficiency Expert Your operational efficiency expert will help you reach maximum efficiencies by reviewing and standardizing key administration processes most important to you (i.e. distributions, annual administration or billing review, etc.). Phone or in-person consultations are available.

Succession Planning Expert Are you considering selling your firm or acquiring another one? Do you have an exit strategy for the owners of your firm?

Your succession planning expert will help you explore some alternatives to achieve your goals, and develop a timeframe to implement your strategy.

Certifications and EducationASPPA CEFEX Certification Program This certification is an independent recognition of a Third Party Administrator’s conformity to all practices and criteria within the ASPPA Standard of Practice. This certification validates that your firm can demonstrate adherence to the industry’s best practices, and is positioned to serve fiduciaries such as Investment Advisors, Investment Managers and Investment Stewards (i.e. Plan Sponsors).

The program analyzes administration services and functions including compliance testing against relevant pension and tax laws, and filing of government reports such as Form 5500.

Continuing Education A series of several recorded webcasts is available and eligible for ASPPA, NIPA and CPE credits.

Topics include: Communication and Customer Service Tips for Retirement Plan Professionals, the Evolution of Qualification Plans, and Unraveling the Mystery of Plan Compliance. The exams can be self-administered or host-administered.

FINRA and the SEC have specific guidelines with respect to Social Media and Registered Representatives and Registered Investment Advisors must comply with those rules and regulations. In addition, other rules and regulations may apply. Each practitioner must use his or her own judgment as to the permissibility of using social media in their work settings. Rules of any affiliated broker dealer or registered investment advisor must also be reviewed before engaging in social media activities.

Special Membership ConsiderationsMultiple Employer Plans (MEP)Multiple Employer Plans are counted towards qualification in the following way: all assets from a Multiple Employer Plan’s adopting employers will count toward qualification, and a limit of five adopting employers will be counted toward the plan count qualification for each MEP. If you sell one MEP with 10 adopters, and $11 million in assets, all assets and five plans will be counted toward your membership for that MEP. If you sell additional MEPs, then its plans and assets will be counted in the same fashion.

Retirement Plan ExchangesSM

If you are the TPA on a Retirement Plan Exchange in connection with Transamerica, the exchange has the 2013 calendar year in which to transfer all agreed-upon new business commitments, in order to qualify for membership in Transamerica’s 2014 Advantage Program. If you reach the new business commitments, you will receive a special credit allotment that may be used toward the promotion of your Exchange(s). If you reach standard membership by achieving the needed assets and plans by way of single employer plans or Multiple Employer Plans, and meet your Retirement Plan Exchange(s) targets, you may double-qualify for credits.
