The development of reading and comprehension is critical to effective learning and in many cases deficiences in these areas are often at the roots of why children could not read or struggling to read. To address this problem, the San Antonio Elementary School crafted a reading program that would eradicate the non – readers and struggling readers that would uplift the performance of the pupils especially in the national achievement test which is administered to Gr. III and Gr. VI at the end of the school year. Thus, the value of generosity and sharing is also at the backdoor of the pupils nowadays and to promote these forgotten values; the program has been conceptualized.

ASSESSMENT AND

MONITORING:

• The advisers administer the Phil- IRI to all pupils enrolled. Based on the Phil- IRI result, the list of non- readers and struggling readers will be submitted to the Gr. Chair and to the Master Teacher in – charge of the grade.SAN ANTONIO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

• The advisers and reading teacher will conduct remedial reading sessions and pull- outs everyday and record the reading progress of each learner in the Reading Performance Chart every Friday, afterwhich will be submitted to the master teacher in – charge of the grade for confirmation purpuses. • The learners with improved reading performance will receive a toy from a generous donor( pupils, teachers, other stakeholders) as a gift for striving and uplifting his/her reading performance.

• Donors will be recorded and be recognized by the principal. Teachers with NO NON- READER will also be recognized at the end of the school year.
