The construction team meets before the second section of the Town Lake Pedestrian Bridge is lifted

into place in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Bridge Facts: Each span consists of an upper arch and a

lower arch that cross, the bridge deck and the connecting cables.

A sprinkler system will hang from the bridge to cool the rubber bladders that hold back the waters of Town Lake.

Killer Shade of Phoenix is providing canopies throughout the bridge designed to match the architecture of the Tempe Center for the Arts and to cool pedestrians as they cross.

The majority of funding for this $5 million bridge comes from federal grants.

From the ground to the air

Two cranes are move in synchronicity to lift the 228 ft long, 34 ft tall, 165,000 pound bridge segment

Section 2 is almost in place – water flows over section 1 of the Town Lake dam.

With the sun rising in the distance, the section is in place.
