TRANSCRIPT

Nimrod decided to build a great city called Babel on the flat plains of Shinar for his family. He wanted the watch tower to reach as high as

heaven to show his great strength and power.

He lay awake at night thinking about his tower. The problem was that there were not enough stones nearby with which to build. The stones were also uneven. The tower would fall over if he tried to build it high like he wanted.

Then he had an idea! Instead of using round stones, he would make flat bricks. They would dry them in a fire until they were hard and strong. With a good foundation he would build higher than anyone else had ever done!

Everyone worked together to build the tower. The bricks were held together with tar. The tower grew higher and higher. It was going to

be the tallest tower in the world!

God saw Nimrod’s pride. He knew that now people could work out how to do anything they dreamed of without trusting in God at all. So

God did something about it.

God worked a miracle. Families began to change the words they used when they spoke with one another. The workers from the

other families couldn’t understand what they said. People became very upset when they couldn’t understand each other!

After a while groups of families who spoke the same language left Babel as a group to find their own places to live. That’s how different languages and

cultures spread over all the world.

God doesn’t want us to become prideful and forget to trust in HIm. He wants us to always love and trust Him as we live out our lives. Will you do that? That’s this week’s story. If you’d
