Industry CommitmentExample: Daimler
• Higher stack lifetime of 2000h• Increasing of power
(65kW 100kW)• Higher reliability
• Longer range (160km 400km)• Freeze start ability
• Li-Ion battery• Decrease component costs
• High efficiency• Zero/ultra low emissions
• Low noise• High driving comfort
• Performance, package & weight• Use of alternative fuels
• New innovative vehicle concept• Basic demonstration of customer
benefits
Vehicle Ready for Mass market• smaller stack• more power• more torque
• Better fuel (equivalent) efficiency• Excellent cold start ability
• Minimized humidifier respectively no humidifier
• new compressor generation• Improved fuel cell stack• Optimized air module
• Simplified H2 loop• Improved operating strategy
• Simplified anode module

Industry CommitmentExample: General Motors
GM has years of experience with fuel cell vehicles.
GM’s current product, the Equinox offers:
•73 kW•160 km/h top speed
•4,5 kg CGH2•320 km range
6Dr. Klaus Bonhoff | Hydrogen and Transportation| 23.01.2008 |

OEMs all over the world develop fuel cell vehiclesHybrid pioneers Honda and Toyota have vivid fuel cell car programmes
Toyota FCHV 70 MPa90 kW PEM fuel cell stack, hybrid with Ni MH battery;
range 560 km
Honda FCX Claritynew PEMFC developed
by Honda: 100 kWe range ~ 430 km
Chery - Eastar FCV
Most OEMs are also active in fuel cell technology,
e.g.:Hyundai Tuscon Hydrogen Car
7Dr. Klaus Bonhoff | Hydrogen and Transportation| 23.01.2008 |
http://www.fchindustry-jti.eu/
• 54 companies from 15 countries• Major share of European FC industry• Representing 90% of total industry investment• Well balanced between large corporations and
SMEs• Shares 50% of the JTI Program Office running cost

The Strategic Activity Plan is underway
• Led by FCHInStruct, the Industry Grouping Committees are working together with the Research Grouping
• The Implementation Plan will be assessed and prioritised actionswill be identified and selected
• These will be converted into the Strategic Activity Plan, the First Annual Plan and First Call proposals
• The process shall be completed by the middle of April 2008
• The first Call shall be launched in the second quarter based on this work
