Tiger Populations In India

By Marlena and Elise

Who

• This is happening to tigers in India. Many people are helping, like India’s Minister for Enviorment and Forest. The government in India is also helping out. For example, India is using a way to identify tigers by their unique stripes.

What

• This is happening to the population of tigers in India. The population is rising. In 2010 it was 1,706 tigers, then in 2014 was 2,226. This was helped by a program that India is a leading participant in called Tx2, which has the aim to double tiger populations by the year 2022.

Where

• This is happening in a few regions in India and also a few other places.

When

• This is happening now, with data from 2014.

Why

• Wildlife reserves, tiger habitats and the program Tx2, which India is a leading participator in, are helping the tigers’ population.

Our Opinion

• We think that it is great that India’s government is helping the tiger population. It is important that the tiger’s population is brought to good amount. It is also great that India is a leading participator in Tx2. This will really help the tiger population.

Other Opinion

• Another opinion might be that India has other things to focus on than the population of tigers. It is not as important as other topics, and time is money is being spent on this. It’s not useful.
