Reception
Plenary Speaker, Michael McNair, Bell Helicopter, Textron: The convergence of autonomous platforms, on-demand transportation, and ad-vanced unmanned aircraft technologies is causing the emergence of a new and exciting industry in shared air mobility. Being able to make this happen requires an inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach that must meet rapidly changing regulatory and public acceptance criteria. Culturally, engineering is an umbrella of a wide variety of specific disciplines, yet an increasing number of customers are requiring solutions and systems that require multi-disciplinary involvement. Using autonomous air transport as the case study, our plenary speaker provides a glimpse into how designers and engineers must work within a complex framework and create the solutions needed for tomorrow.
