The Nile gave life to ancient Egypt.

• The Nile River basin covers about 1/10th of Africa in 10 countries

• 40% of the population lives in this area

• 95% of Egyptians live along the Nile

Branches of the Nile- White & Blue

• White Nile begins in Lake Victoria

• Blue Nile begins in Lake Tana in Ethiopia

Every year, the Nile floods on a fairly predictable basis.
