EWS--EXTREME WIDE SHOT

This shot is commonly called an “Establishing Shot” as it denes the main location that the following actionor story will be taking place. The main subject is oftennot visible but may be heard in a voiceover during thisscene.

WIDE SHOT

This shot is used to establish the main subject (in thiscase the boy) within a location that helps to createcontext. the main subject should always be framed sothat their head and feet are within the frame and withequal distance from the top and bottom edges of the viewable frame.

MID SHOT

This shot is used to create a sense of familiarity with the subject. It should be used when the dialoguegiven is not emotionally charged and closer to a neutral tone. This also mirrors the vantage point mostof us have when engaged in standing conversation. This format is widely used in newcasts of reporters.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP

This shot is used when a more emotional response is required or expected. It allows the viewer to moreclearly see the subject and to establish a link with their facial expressions.
