Desire• One needs to have a burning desire to succeed.• Have a Definite and Specific Goal and a plan of action on how
to achieve that goal• Must be willing to burn all ships• Wish to be rich vs Desire to be rich• Story of Edwin C Barnes
6 Steps to turn Desire into Gold
• Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire• Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the
money• Establish a definite date for obtaining the money• Write a clear concise statement with your determinations
from above• Read your statement twice daily
Faith
• Confidence, trust and an absolute belief that you can do something
• Have faith on you that you really can achieve your desire.• Repetition to your subconscious mind is the only know way to
voluntarily develop faith
– Must infuse emotions– Must envision yourself in circumstances
Specialized Knowledge
• Knowledge is NOT power– Is only “potential” power
• Knowledge becomes power when it is used and put into definite plans of Action.
• There are two types of knowledge:• General & specialized• Knowledge will not attract money unless it is organised and
directed through plan of action• Knowledge is not related only to education
Auto Suggestion
• Self-Administered stimuli which reaches mind through 5 senses.
• Have a mental picture in your mind that you have already achieved what you desire.
Imagination
• Einstein said “Imagination is everything. It is the preview to life’s coming attractions”
• Visualise and Focus on your desire• Example of Napoleon Hill
Organized Planning
• Develop a definite and practical plan to achieve your goal.• Put the pieces in place that will help you achieve your success• The plans should be practical and workable
Decision
• Make a firm decision and stick to it• Beware of family and friends• Don’t spend all your time sharing your knowledge…Listen!• “Tell the world what you intend to do, but first show it”
Persistence• The basis of persistence is power of will• Men who accumulate great fortunes are generally
considered as ruthless• “Impossible V8 motor”
Power of the master mind
• Surround yourself with like minded people who are working towards a common goal
• This will create synergy which is an unstoppable force• It creates coordination of knowledge and effort
What I liked• Success comes from knowing what you want to achieve and
having a burning desire to achieve it• Very good examples of different people who were successful
in their fields• Different from personal finance books1) Desire2) Believe 3) Act 4) Persist
What I Didn’t Like
• Repetitive examples.• Too theoretical • Set in time when there were too many opportunities• Time Consuming
Recomendation
• Emphasis on thinking process• Applicable for people working in any industry• Introspect while reading
Conclusion
• The book goes beyond money• Do not focus position or force of authority• Most great leaders began as excellent followers and that we
have to learn how to serve before we can achieve• The book covers philosophy as well as gives a strong message
for wealth creation
