Meet the Onchenge FamilyRepresentative Family in Eastern Africa

Ibrahim (father), Lydia Bosi Bori (mother), Omariba Onchenge, James Nyakundi, Florence Kerubo, Elijah

Onsomo, Rebecca Nyamasasi, Issac Ombaka

They live in the Banita Gichagi village near Solai town in the Rift

Valley province of Kenya

In 2007, the family was displaced from their home when violence swept through the region following a contested election.

Their home was burned and the family fled and lived in a camp for internally displaced persons for a year.

Four years ago, the family was resettled in Blue-Banita

Gichagi village, where they built a small mud home.

Ibrahim had a road accident several years ago and lost one of his legs.

Despite this physical disability, he and his family work hard to grow food on their plot of land.

Recently, CRWRC began working in this region through a new partnership with the Nakuru Region Inter-Diocesan Christian Community Services (NRIDCCS).

They work with the Onchenge family to help them find sustainable ways to improve their lives.

CRWRC and NRIDCCS are teaching Ibrahim and Lydia how to use

new farming techniques and

different types of seeds to grow and

harvest more food throughout the

year.

They are also encouraging the Onchenge family and their neighbors to raise different types of animals in order to diversify their sources of income.

Here the children show off one of their family chickens.

Your prayers and gifts will help families like the Onchenge family work toward a better future

When you decide to partner with the Free a Family program, you get

the opportunity to connect with a real family that CRWRC is working

with - to celebrate their success, join them in challenges, and support

them with your prayers.

Thank you!
