Chapter 21• The First World War occurred

as Germany seeks more power

• Treaty of Versailles which ended the war in 1919.

• The Great War had engraved many changes, for example, the Ottoman authorities massacred or deported about 1 million Armenians. And put a final end to a declining Ottoman empire.

• The First World War put the United States as a global power

Great Depression. With many cycles of “boom and bust, expansion and recession”

• Unemployment soared• In the US, Roosevelt’s New

Deal was an experiment to reform and skeet to restart economic growth.

some countries, and fascism was used instead

• Fascism- is intensely nationalistic, seeking to purify the nation and mobilize its people for some grand task.
