COME SEE WHAT MAKES MIRACOSTA SPECIAL! MiraCosta College is indeed a special place, and MiraCosta Theatre is no exception! A student-centered program that brings actor training, vocal training, dramatic literature, theory, design, and theatre production and technology to the local area, MiraCosta Theatre has been producing theatre for more than 50 years.
AWARD-WINNING THEATRE With students annually participating in the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival, the theatre program has enjoyed award-winning success for many years. We are proud of our record of excellence, and hope to continue to participate in the festival for many years to come!
SPECIALIZED ACTOR’S ACADEMY MiraCosta Theatre offers a special program called The Actor’s Academy. This midsummer program is an intensive exploration of acting techniques, vocal training, movement, Shakespeare, and more. The Actor’s Academy culminates in a showcase production, allowing students to practice what they have learned in the summer program—and a chance to share it with our audience.

How far are you willing to go for the American Dream?
Set in post-World War II, Arthur Miller’s landmark drama examines the relationships between fathers and sons and the price of living the “American Dream”. An explosive secret threatens to tear the family apart in this powerful play about the conflict between business ethics and taking responsibility for one’s actions. Winner of the first Tony Award® and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Play, All My Sons established Miller as a leading voice in the American theatre. Based on a true story.
“Stunning…a modern classic and one that those who see it will never forget.”
—Daily Telegraph

A musical masterpiece.
Join this band of swashbuckling pirates, sentimental lovers, bumbling British policemen, lovely maidens, and a delightfully stuffy
“model of a modern major general” for a spirited romp through this musical theatre masterpiece. Pirates of Penzance follows Fredrick, who as a young child, was mistakenly apprenticed to pirates until his 21st birthday. He falls head-over-heals for Mabel, and despite his moral objection to piracy, is honor- bound to remain a pirate due to the revelation of his leap-year birthday. Pirates of Penzance is a treasure!
Preview performance, March 7 • 7:30 p.m.
March 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 • 7:30 p.m. March 9, 10, 16, 17 • 2 p.m.
Note: Children under the age of 5 are not admitted to the theatre.
A school for scandal! Tell me, I beseech you,
Needs there a school, this modish art to teach you?
No need of lessons now, the knowing think;
We might as well be taught to eat and drink.
Lies, deceit, fake news, manipulations, malice, and outrageous fun! The School for Scandal (1777) was the most frequently performed play of its time and continues to be in the top five English comedies of manners. Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s searing comedy begins as a bunch of upper-middle-class gossips amuse themselves and one another by spreading malicious rumors. With the birth of the newspaper industry, they spread their fake news far and wide. Come and see the antics of Snake, Sir Backbite, Careless, Sir and Lady Teazle, Lady Sneerwell and Mrs. Candour, as they’ll have you rolling in your seats.
Preview performance, November 8 • 7:30 p.m.
November 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 • 7:30 p.m. November 10, 11, 17, 18 • 2 p.m.
Note: Children under the age of 5 are not admitted to the theatre.
Retired stage star Judith Bliss, her novelist husband, and their two bohemian adult children have each invited houseguests for the weekend. But as the Bliss family indulge their artistic eccentricities in a hilarious whirlwind of flirtation and histrionics, the guests begin to wonder if they’ve landed in a madhouse—and if they can survive with their own wits intact. Set in an English country house in the 1920s, Noël Coward’s hilarious comedy of bad manners is a favorite amongst theatregoers.
“Light, luminous, and charming, and hilariously funny.”
—The New York Times
