About Viking Helical Anchors
Established in 2006, Viking Helical Anchors designs, supplies, and distributes high strength helical piling products to the United States and abroad. Viking Helical Anchors’ parent company, Viking Forest Products, is one of nine divisions that comprise Forest City Trading Group, one of the largest whole sale distributor of wood panel, lumber and industrial products in North America for the past 30 years with sales in excess of $2.5 billion per year.
Our parent company, Viking Forest Products, has been in the forest products and construction industry for over 100 years
Products In order to design and engineer an unparalleled helical anchor for deep foundation and soil stabilization, we worked closely with industry experts to understand exactly what it would take to come up with the strongest helical anchor product in the world. What we found out was that in order to achieve our goal we needed three things: stronger couplings/connections, stronger steel in the shafts, and stronger service. We did just that, using a patented inertia welded connection, 35% stronger steel, and 100 years of sales understanding and relationships. Service To supplement our products Viking Helical Anchors also provides in-house engineering services to work every step of the way from project conception to completion. Our services include preliminary design support, stamped submittals/designs, design recommendations, site and installation support, custom design fabrication, and more. No project is the same, and our entire staff from sales and marketing to engineering and management will make certain we understand exactly what makes your business unique. This allows us to provide you with the absolute best service, going above expectations while building strong, lasting relationships.

Viking Helical Anchors Applications and Uses
Building Foundations
When poor soils prevent the use of traditional shallow spread footings our anchors can be used, even in the
harshest of soil environments, as a substitute. New construction caps are placed on the top of the anchor and
rebar is tied or welded in before the columns are poured. The anchors handle all of the building weight, and
because we can support large loads, quite often we can reduce the number of piles required.
Solar Farms
Our helical piers have replaced concrete as the standard for solar structural supports on a number of projects.
Helical anchors are easily screwed out of the ground eliminating the task of removing concrete columns and
replacing with fill once decommissioned. Lateral loads are the biggest concern in supporting solar arrays.
Often we can combat these forces with either battered (angled) piles on the end of the array string, or we
simply increase the diameter of the pipe.

Communications, Transmission, and Other Towers
Whether it is for self-supporting or guy wire supported, our anchors are the foundation for communication and
transmission towers across the U.S. We've designed foundations that save time and money by taking
advantage of our high capacity anchors to reduce the amount of steel required to support loads in excess of
300 KIP.
Wind Turbines
In the past 1.5MW and larger wind tower foundations required an exorbitant amount of resources, sometimes in excess of 420 cubic yards of concrete and 60,000 lbs. of rebar. The more concrete involved, the longer the cure time required before the turbine is able to be erected. Our anchors have the ability to reduce the concrete required to just the turbine foundation cap, saving an enormous amount of installation time, mobilization, and money.
More!
The applications for our helical anchors, helical piles, and helical piers as an option for deep foundation
systems are numerous and we have only noted several of the common uses. Our support and engineering
staff are available to help you on any design-build projects you have in mind and we are more than willing to
try something new. We'll turn your ideas into reality.

Note: The capacities shown above in Table 2 for ultimate tension strength and compression load limit are calculated ratings not determined by field tests. The ultimate torsional strength values shown above are actually determined by statistical analysis of laboratory testing results except for values with an asterisk next to them. Values with an asterisk next to them are calculated ratings. Our unique facility contains a torsion testing machine allowing us to test all our products. Viking Helical Anchors is committed to testing and improving all of our finished products to provide the best quality for the customer. The table will be updated when testing is completed for those products with an asterisk.

Guy Wire Supported
Communications Tower
Project Overview: Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Homeland Security Tower
DESCRIPTION
This homeland security communications tower was originally designed to use 1.5" RCS grouted helical anchors to support 3 inner guy wires, 3 outside guy wires and the center tower support. The project was incorrectly specified by others to a safety factor of 2 in clayey soils with blow counts ranging from 2 to 14. With the help of Viking’s engineering support, which caught the safety factor error made in the original design, the contractor was able to save time and money by installing less steel via stronger anchors. Viking Helical Anchors and their engineers redesigned this tension system with less steel using 2.875" and 3.5" round shaft helical anchors. A custom guywire fan attachment had to be designed and manufactured to support the 1278 KIP tension load. A correct tensile safety factor of 3, as was initially required, was used during the design. Skin friction and torque were the two primary components that allowed Viking to design this system to be 30% stronger and 25% cheaper while using more than 15% less LF of steel than was originally planned. No grout support was required during installation.

Project Overview: “SunDurance Energy” Solar Panel Farm
Solar panels being hoisted onto anchor structure
This solar farm structure was originally planned as 1.75” RCS grouted helical an-chors to support solar panels. The geo-technical soils report indicated soil blow counts ranging from 10 to 12 with a water table below 22 feet.
The working lateral load, which is often found on solar projects, was deter-mined to be 1,200 lbs. or 1.2 KIP. To combat the lateral forces grouting was needed to support the smaller anchors
on the original plan.
Viking’s redesign on the project pro-posed using 4.5” OD tube shaft anchors with a 10“-12”-14“ ight conguration. The anchors were installed to 18 feet.
Viking’s design was chosen for the cost reduction, the minimal environmental impact (as opposed to the grouting), as well as the shorter time of installation over grouted piles.
