Mark 10:35-45

The Upside Down Kingdom

“Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

“What do you want me to do

for you?”

“Let one of us sit at your right and the

other at your left in your glory.”

“You do not know what you are

asking.”

“You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and

their high officials exercise high authority

over them.

Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among

you must be your servant,

… and whoever wants to be first must be the slave

of all.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be

served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45

The Upside Down Kingdom

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave

thanks and broke it,and gave it

to his disciples, saying,

“Take it…this is my body.”

Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to

them, and they alldrank

from it.

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured

out for many,

I tell you the truth, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day

when I drink it anew…

… in the Kingdom of God.”
