What is the solar system and how does it work?By Riley B

How was the solar system formed?

0The solar system was made by the birth of the Sun.0The other planets formed around the Sun and that’s

why they all orbit the Sun.

The Sun

0The Sun is the centre of our Solar System.0Every planet orbits around the Sun.0Without the Sun we wouldn’t have a galaxy.

Mercury

0Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun.0Mercury looks a lot like our moon to the naked eye.0 It the smallest planet in the Solar System and the

fastest. 0 It is the second hottest planet in the Solar System.

Venus

0Venus is the closest plant to Earth and closest in size to Earth.

0Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system.0Venus has one of the thickest atmospheres.

Earth

0Earth is the only planet that has gravity. Every other planet has zero gravity.

0Earth is also the only planet to have living creatures. 0 We have a breathable atmosphere and water.

Mars 0Mars is a red orange colour.0 It’s the second closest planet to Earth.0 Its know as Earth’s twin.

Ceres

0Ceres is a dwarf planet.0 It’s found only in the inner solar system and it’s the

largest asteroid

Jupiter

0 Jupiter is made out of gas.0 Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system.0Through a telescope it looks like Jupiter has a big eye

but actually it is just a really big storm.

Saturn

0Saturn's rings are made of ice particles with a smaller amount of rock debris.

0Saturn is one of four planets that have rings.0 It is also a gas planet.

Uranus

0Uranus is 67 times heaver than Earth.0You weigh 4 kilos less on Uranus. 0Uranus is made of gas.

Neptune

0On Neptune you would weigh 4 kilos more.0Neptune is the smallest gas planet.0Neptune has 6 rings.
