characteristics: • Length of the message is limited to 140 characteristics (tweet)• Message is public• Distribution of message depends on interest of followers• Message transmission can be synchronous or asynchronous

• Twitter users are able to post direct and indirect updates• Conversations may occur by posting updates directed

at specific users
