For over two decades I’ve spent the beginning of the year in Florida at some of the largest antique fairs in the world. Dealers descend from far flung corners of the earth with their freshest acquisitions, bought from estates and other dealers in their home countries. The fairs afford us a wonderful buying opportunity, as having been an exhibitor for more than 20 years, other dealers know we look for the finest objects from the finest designers of the 20th century. Oftentimes, the best items are held for us.

Occasionally we see something so fine, or so rare, that we extend the bounds of the collection beyond the 20th century. This catalogue in particular features several pieces from the late 1800s. The pair of Chinese vases seen on the cover and the monumental American Renaissance claret jug seen on page 15 are just two examples of items that, although they are not 20th century, do meet one of the The Silver Fund’s most important criteria – they are exceptional.

I hope you enjoy the selection contained within this catalogue; it represents the finest items we have found. I enjoy presenting a carefully chosen collection of items with clean lines and clean principles in an increasingly complicated modern world.
