The Se r v a n t L i f e

To You I lift up my eyes, O You Who are enthroned in the heavens!

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look

to the Lord our God, until He is gracious to us.

Be gracious to us, O Lord, be gracious to us, for we are greatly filled with contempt.

Our soul is greatly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

Psalm 123

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from whence shall my help come?

My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to slip; He Who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He Who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand.

The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.

The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.

Psalm 121

To You I lift up my eyes, O You Who are enthroned in the heavens!

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look

to the Lord our God, until He is gracious to us.

Be gracious to us, O Lord, be gracious to us, for we are greatly filled with contempt.

Our soul is greatly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

Psalm 123

The Christian is a person who recognizes our real problem is not in achieving freedom but in learning

service under a better master. Christ-followers realize every relationship that excludes God becomes

oppressive. As we recognize and realize that truth, we urgently want to live under the mastery of God.

And God is able to lavish all His grace upon you, so in every matter and in every way you will have enough of everything,

and may be lavish in all your good works. 2 Corinthians 9:8
