The Savoy Tavern is the perfect space for
people to meet. Ideally located in what is
quickly becoming the centre of Melbourne, it is
a melting pot for people from the Hoddle grid
and Docklands, with an extremely convenient
interface to both the ceremonies of Etihad
Stadium and the transport hub; Southern Cross
Station.
Originally designed and built by the Carlton
and United Brewery in 1972 to be a drinking
‘barn’ catering to a ‘rough west end’. The
Savoy Tavern has been carefully refurbished
to balance the 70’s with a more modern,
comfortable aesthetic.
The Savoy Tavern boasts two large, well
appointed rooms, each with their own sense
of character. These spaces have a range of
flexibilities which allow them to cater for
small private functions of 30 – 50 guests,
to larger functions of up to 250 guests in
one room. Alternatively, the whole venue is
available for those who are game, with the
ability to cater for over 500 guests.
Our fully functioning kitchen provides good
quality, well priced food and is able to cater
for sit down lunches, dinners and cocktail
service as well as more specific individual
requirements for your function. Similarly, we
have a wide range of draught beer, wine, spirit
and cocktail offerings available over our truly
unique island bars.

With a range of exclusive areas, The
Savoy Tavern Lounge Bar has over 3
kilometres of feature rope in the
ceiling space, highlighting the
more interesting aspects of 1970’s
architecture and is our most popular
area with social functions. The Savoy
Tavern Lounge Bar also has a fully
functioning PA with a small stage for
entertainment or conference use.
THE MEZZANINE BAR
Opening in October 2014, The Savoy
Tavern Mezzanine Bar is our most
exclusive function space, overlooking
the entire venue. Truly one of the
most interesting areas available and
well suited for private events*.

VENUE ACCESS - Venue access is permitted 2
hours prior to agreed event start time for set
up of decorations, audio visual equipment and
entertainment. Earlier access may be arranged with
consultation with the venue.
PARKING - Southern Cross Station has parking
directly across from The Savoy Tavern for over
1000 vehicles until 1AM. On street parking is also
available in the surrounding streets, we encourage
guests to take notice of Melbourne City Council
parking restrictions to avoid nasty surprises.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS - Accessible entrance located on
Bourke St with ramped entry, as well as disabled
wash closet facilities and ramped smoking deck.
Due to the building legacy we advise that the
Mezzanine level is not accessible by wheelchair.
DELIVERIES - The Savoy Tavern has a loading dock
at basement level for large deliveries as well as
ground floor loading from Godfrey St. Any large
items required for a function must be approved
by the venue manager. Unless otherwise agreed
any extra equipment, decorations, presents, or
other that belong to guests or organisers of
the function must be removed at the end of the
function.
AUDIO VISUAL - The Savoy Tavern has a fully
functioning PA system in The Lounge Bar available
for bands, DJs and presentations. In cases where
an area is exclusively hired out we can provide
an input for an IPod for the hirer. All audio
must run through the venues system in order to
comply with noise restrictions. We can arrange
(at the hirers expense) any and all audio visual
requirements such as cordless microphones,
lecturns & projector screens. Please advise the
venue of your specific requirements.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS – any specific dietary
requirements must be brought to the attention
of the venue prior to the event date. We
make all effort to ensure that allergies and
specific requirements are resolved for guests
if notification is given. We can not guarantee
changes if left to the day of your event.
RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL - as a part of
our best practice liquor licensing management we
reserve the right to refuse entry to persons who
are intoxicated upon entry or ‘cut-off’ guests who
are showing signs of intoxication. This is at the
Venue Manager’s discretion and is not open to the
interpretation of the hirer. Similarly we do not
allow guests under the age of 18 onto the licensed
premises unless they are accompanied by a parent
or guardian.
CONFIRMATION AND PAYMENT - To secure your event a
50% non-refundable deposit is required no later
than 7 days before your event proceeds. Final
numbers and food/beverage selections most be made
no later than 3 days before the event. We require
full payment of the agreed amount 24 hours before
the event unless otherwise agreed.
