Our Sacred Purpose
Christ-led,
Christ-fed,
and
Hope-filled
The Diocese of Ogdensburg joyfully
invites the people of the
North Country to the journey
of faith through the proclamation of
the Gospel,
the celebration of the Eucharist, and
the Sacraments, and the
loving service of neighbor.
Daily Prayer This Week
We can reflect on the gift of the Holy Spirit to us
all week. Throughout the week, we can reflect on
the gifts the Holy Spirit gives us: wisdom, under-
standing, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and
fear of the Lord. This isn't to notice what we
lack, but to notice what we desire. Who among us doesn't need
more wisdom, or my fortitude - in the midst of the challenges we
face? Asking for these graces can fill our week. Similarly, we can
ask for the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which Paul describes: love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness
and self-control. We can certainly imagine desiring - and being
open to these all week. Tobit is a great story. Listening to this story can certainly help us
ask ourselves what being a person of integrity would look like for
us, in our place in life at this time. We can also enjoy the way Jesus resists the insincereity of the
religious leaders of his day. They have a hard time with his being
so merciful and the very human manifestation of God in their
midst. It is wonderful to ask for the grace to be as open as I can
to receiving him as the Lord of my life - embracing his pattern and
example of mercy and love. We can let ourselves relate with each person of the Trinity this
week, to prepare for Sunday's celebration. Speaking with our Fa-
ther, in our own words, especially giving thanks for the gift of all
creation, can renew that relationship with our Father. Talking
with Jesus, friend to friend this week can be a great grace. And,
asking the Holy Spirit to fill our heart with the fire of his love, that
the Spirit might renew us and help in the mission of renewing the
face of the earth. Taken from the "Weekly Guide for Daily Prayer" on the Creighton University's Online Ministries web
site: www.creighton.edu/Collaborative Ministry/online.html Used with permission.

Dear Parish Family,
Fr. Doug
Pope Francis urges a new vision of
dialogue for national and local
policies: “Continuity is essential,
because policies related to climate
change and environmental protection
cannot be altered with every change
in government. Results take time and
demand immediate outlays which may
not produce tangible effects within any one
government’s term.” What worthy goals might be the
foundation of stewardship for air we breathe and for
water we drink? How might Catholic social teachings
help guide us?
DIOCESAN MEN'S RETREAT
This year's diocesan Catholic Men's Re-treat is this Friday, June 9th through Sunday, June 11th. The theme is "Be A Man: Becoming the man God created
you to be". The weekend is open to those 18 years of age and older and will be held at the Guggenheim Center in S a ra n a c L a k e . Co n t a c t S t e v e T a r ta g l i a ( s t a r t a g l i a @ r c d o n y . o r g ) o r J o h n M i n e r (jdminer@roadrunner.com) with questions.
June 10 and 11 marks the combined Catholic Com-munication Campaign and Catholic University Col-lection. The Communication Campaign connects people with Christ, here and around the world, through the inter-net, television, radio, and print media. One-third of funds collected remain in our diocese for local communications efforts, one-third helps the U.S. bishops spread the gospel message. The last third of collected funds support the Catholic Uni-versity of America. The Vatican and U.S. bishops established CUA in 1887 as a national resource to prepare the next generation of Church and national leaders. Our support helps young men and women like Carter Pierce of Heu-velton who attended CUA and will likely be entering semi-nary studies this fall for our diocese. Thank you for your support and gift!

The Church & Community Program is looking for volunteers for the thrift shop and for the pantry. If you have a couple of hours free, we would welcome the help. Thrift shop volunteers are needed for morning or afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday. Pantry volunteers are needed for morning and afternoon shifts Monday through Thursday. As always, we welcome help unloading bigger food deliveries on Monday and Wednesday mornings -- half an hour would do it!
