The FireToday is February 15 , 1941 and I am in the city of Santander. The south wind blows very strong.

It is ten o´clock at night and I am scared. There aren´t people in the street and it is dark.

People say that there is a house burning in Cádiz street and nobody knows how.

The house is burning because the stove is sparking.

It´s February 16 today. It´s six o´clock in the morning and I can´t sleep.

We are waiting for the firefighters from Madrid, the Basque Provinces (Basque Country) and Valladolid.

The streets are full of debris and there are some homeless people. There are some buildings destroyed.

Today is February 25, 1941

Julian Sanchez García is dead. He was a firefighter from Madrid who was thirty five years old.

The fire started thirteen days ago and it destroyed four hundred buildings and ten thousand people were homeless.

The cathedral

The cathedral was built on the century XIII. On 1941, the cathedral burned, and on 1954 was reconstructed.
