US History or AP US History?

Option 1: US History• Students are required to take .5 credit US History to graduate from North High

School.• Traditionally, US History is taken in 9th grade.

Option 2: AP US History• This highly rigorous 1.0 credit AP course is available to students in grades 10-12.• Fulfills the .5 US History graduation requirement.• If you want to take this AP course in the future INSTEAD OF taking 9th grade US

History next year, you would NOT register for US History freshmen year.• Be sure to make a 4 year plan now to determine where you will fit AP US

History in grade 10, 11, or 12.

Option 3: Best of both• Take US History freshmen year to fulfill the graduation requirement • Then take AP US History as an elective in grade 10, 11, or 12.

Viewing Course Requests• Skyward: February 10-28• Change the entity on Skyward to North

• Once schedules are made:• Check study halls• Check required courses• Contact counselor if needed

For Families who are new to ECASD

Before your child can register for classes at North, you will first need to enroll in the ECASD at 500 Main Street.

You can begin the enrollment process online at http://www.ecasd.us/District/Home
