Cloud Virtual Desktops vs. Traditional

Physical Desktops• Little Mobility/Device dependent• Takes 3-5 days for a new system• Break/fix issues• Endpoint data loss/ security• Vulnerable to power outages• Hardware & desktop are one and

the same• Up-front capital required• Hardware warranty cost

Cloud Virtual Desktop• Device Independent• New systems in 90 seconds• Never breaks• Data can not be lost or stolen• Always on• Desktop can be accessed from any

connected device from anywhere• No upfront capital• No hardware warranty required

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Key Findings – Standard Windows 7 Desktop

• Virtual desktops deliver savings upwards of 36% over desktop PC costs

• Cloud desktops deliver further savings of 20+% over on-premises VDI

• On-premises VDI delivers savings over PC’s on labor but it is offset by the significant extra infrastructure required

• The ability to offload endpoints or extend them can deliver $250+ per year per desktop

• The performance requirements for VDI necessitate adoption of external storage which adds substantial costs
