The three hikers are rudely awakened from a trailside nap and have to pack up quick…

They don’t know how long it takes to make a mile.

And then that joke about “Howling Gap’s” sign doesn’t seem so funny.

The trail is quickly slippery and they are soaked and sweaty by the time they get to the gap.

They’ve never been in such wind!

And then the most fundamental and unexpected thing happens.

No, no one slipped over the edge…

No one went crazy and headed back out…

They just plain couldn’t see and had 3 miles to go…
