DESCRIPTION

This is my story about what I had not experienced and about what I had not witnessed. I was born in to it. When I was a little boy, I spent a lot of time with my Grandmother Nvart, who often looked after me. She told me stories about her childhood, how happy she was and how beautiful the land where her and our family lived and how suddenly those happy times ended. I wanted my work to be dramatic and revealing, filtering through the contemporary landscapes of Eastern Anatolia. My visual strategy was to catch the light during my explorations and use it to evoke an emotional response. I was attempting to capture simple landscapes to portray complex of emotions. I would like my project to be as a channel for mutual recognition, reflecting on losses that constitute the legacy of the last century. The legacy we carry in ourselves, the consequence of the Armenian Genocide in history, forms a part of our internal reflections.
