CROCODILES

THE SALTWATER CROCODILEThis crocodile lives in the sea. The feeding of

this crocodile often changes, because young

saltwater crocodile eat insects and small

animals and the adult saltwater crocodile eat

big animals such as buffalos.

THE ALLIGATOR

The alligator is a type of crocodile. It lives in

the southeast of Oklahoma. Alligators prefer

the fresh water lakes and slowmoving rivers

in the Everglades. People have to be careful

because alligators eat everything in front of

them.

THE NILE CROCODILE

The Nile crocodile is an African crocodile and

may be considered the second largest reptile

in the world, after the saltwater crocodile.

This crocodile can eat very big animals such

as elephants and buffalos.

SNAKES

COBRA

Cobra is a Portuguese word for snake. It lives

in Asia and eats mice and other small animals.

It is a famous venemous snake in the world.

The Indian cobra is the most dangerous cobra.

VIPERINAE

Viperinae is a subfamily of venemous vipers

endemic to Europe, Africa and Asia. This

snake eats small animals such as mice or

small birds.

BOA CONSTRICTOR

The boa constrictor is the biggest snake in the

world. It lives in southeast of America, in the

Amazonas. It eats big animals such as boar

and cows.

KOMODO DRAGON

The Komodo dragon is a specie of lizard that

lives in the Indonesian islands of Komodo.

It is the largest living lizard. They grow to an

average length of 2–3 meters and weigh

around 70kg.

Komodo dragon bites can be very dangerous

and they sometimes attack people.

The Komodo dragon has other names. It can

also be called the Komodo monitor or the

Komodo Island monitor by some scientists,

but this is not very common.

It has a tail as long as its body.

It also has a long, yellow, forked tongue. Also

its skin is very bright hot pink color.

The Komodo dragon likes hot and dry places

and lives in dry open grassland, savannah

and tropical forest on lower land.

Komodo dragons are carnivores.

The Komodo dragon's diet includes

invertebrates, other reptiles (including

smaller Komodo dragons), birds, bird eggs...

CARNIVOROUS DINOSAURS

Reptiles have lived in the world four million years.

There were lots of reptiles such as dinosaurs.

Some dinosaurs were carnivors such as the

Tyranosaur and the Velociraptor. Carnivoros ate

other herbivorous dinosaurs.

HERBIVOROUS DINOSAURS

Other dinosaurs ate plants and vegetables such as

Triceratops and Brachiosaurus. The

Brachiosaurus had the biggest neck in the world.

Lots of herbivors died because the carnivors ate

them.

FLYING DINOSAURS

Other dinosaurs could fly such as Therodactyloand Archaeoteryx. They ate insects and smallfish. They could escape from the carnivors. Theywere reptiles.

REPTILES IN MÁLAGA

In Spain, there are lots of parks and zoos with

reptiles, they live in their favourite habitat.

In Malaga, we have three places with this type of

animals: Selwo Aventura, Biopark Fuengirola and

the Crocodile park.

SELWO AVENTURA

The Selwo Aventura is in Estepona (Málaga).

There are lot of reptiles such as snakes,

crocodiles…. The snakes are in a small dark

house in their natural habitat.

BIOPARC FUENGIROLA

In Fuengirola Zoo, there are new reptiles such as

Komodo dragons. They live in some Indian ruins.

It has lot of food and water to swim. The tamer of

Komodo dragon has to be careful because the

Komodo dragon is carnivorous.

CROCODILE PARK

The crocodile park is the biggest place with

crocodile in Andalusia. There are lots of types of

crocodile. The biggest is “Paco”, a Nile crocodile

with 3,5 metres long. If you wish, you can hold a

baby crocodile in your arms.

DINOPETREA

In Málaga, there was an exhibition calledDinopetrea. There were lot of bones of tyranosaur, diplodocus…
