Chapter 11: Forester Family Round 2

She’d be leaving soon. Headed for Arkadia to try her luck at securing a

marriage alliance between two neighboring kingdoms.

Honestly she wasn’t quite sure how she felt about this. The family’s maid servant and the new queen

Gaineda had already thrown the kingdom topsy turvy. Her brother Thorin bless him, he was too kind

for his own good.

Why he let Sharla talk to him in such a manner made no sense at all. And his

wife had certainly let the crown go straight to her head.

She is by far completely useless. She and Sharla spend the day sipping tea, and doing nothing to help run

the kingdom.

Why her brother could not have chosen Adrianna was beyond her comprehension. Her friend would never have let power go

to her head.

At least Gardiner is now at court to help while she is away. She’ll just

have to trust that the Maester can keep things running.

“Well Faramir do you like Aunt Eowyn’s new gown? Adrianna made it for her trip to

Arkadia. My but you will be HUGE by the time I come home.”

“What do you say I teach you a little song before the tournament today?”

She felt as big as a whale. Honestly she’d wanted to simply sit out of attending the Princess’ tourney, but she supposed that wouldn’t be proper. Besides, no doubt, her mother would give her fits if she did.

It seemed as though the entire kingdom had been

invited.

Even the lords and ladies of Whinmore came to the

tourney.

Maester Shahan had even brought his daughter. Couldn’t he afford to purchase

proper gowns for his daughter now? Disgraceful.

At least the Monty girl what was her name again? She’d spent the day out

of sight….

Sir GilsCarbo was of course favored to win the

day.

But he lost to Maester Shahan the very first round. How

disappointing.

Eowyn naturally seemed quite pleased with the

results.

I never noticed before what a bore she was as a young woman. Living with her has been trying.

How ever will she make a proper match for herself in those trousers?

Maester Shahan even managed to best my own brother! How could

Amir lose to a Peasant boy?

In the end the tourney was won by the Princess herself. Oh so that was why the lords of the

kingdom had all done so poorly! Her husband had set this up in advance. Quaint I suppose.

That had been such a fun little surprise Thorin had sprung on her! Log rolling once more before she left for Arkadia. Perhaps she could introduce the sport to

the people there? Even Ganieda’s little fainting spell at the end couldn’t ruin the day.

She would miss this place.

“Where’s my little prince? Where is he?” Faramir giggled. His daddy could be so silly!

“Your grace, the queen’s servant wishes to speak with you.”

“Of course one moment…”

“Miss Sharla, please assure my wife that I have sent for her brother and that he will be here shortly.”

“That’s not good enough! What kind of king are you? Throwing a tourney when his wife is in such delicate

condition?”

The following morning after Eowyn’s departure it was time to up the intimidation of the king….

Sharla shoved the king hard nearly causing him to hit the wall.

Unfortunately for Sharla, Thane Shahan had come early and saw the entire incident. He

had quickly sprung into action and had Sharla arrested.

And her mistress who had put her up to the idea who Sharla had buttered up for years to get ahead in this world, had denied everything! Gaineda had

betrayed her!

Now she found herself sitting in this tower for the rest of

her life….

What was she going to do now? All those years of

planning gone!

Well I hope you all enjoyed Chapter 11. And yes Sharla was quite literally slapping Thorin

around….poor guy’s too sweet. But she fought with the king in front of Gardiner so I figured I

finally had my excuse to lock her up and get her out of my hair. See you all soon!
