The Junction Co. welcomes the Martumili Mob for a specialCourthouse Gallery+Studio exhibition - showcasing a fun anddiverse group show by emerging and established MartumiliArtists.Martumili Mob is an exhibition that celebrates thecontemporary identity of the artist group, and the uniqueenvironments that Martu artists work in. Featuring artists whowork in the communities of Parnpajinya (Newman), Jigalong,Parnngurr, Kunawarritji, Irrungadji and Warralong, MartumiliMob brings the energy, vibrancy and culture of the Newmanart centre, and the remote community art sheds to PortHedland. For Martu, art making is about so much more thanpaintings - the art centre is a space of community connection,story-telling, cultural celebration, and communal joy. Thisexhibition offers the Port Hedland community a chance to getto know the incredible people and experiences that makeMartumili so special.This vibrant exhibition captures the energy that MartumiliArtists have for creating and presenting their work andillustrates the Martu Peoples’ commitment to sharing theimportance of Country and keeping culture alive.Martumili Mob features artwork by Attaya Angie, Gladys KuruBidu, Biddy Bunawarrie, Marianne Burton, Derrick Butt,Nancy Nyanjilpayi (Ngarnjapayi) Chapman, Amy French,Kumpaya Girgirba, Lily Jatarr Long, Roxanne Newberry, MaryRowlands, Judith Anya Samson, Desmond Taylor, CurtisTaylor, Muuki Taylor, Debra Thomas, Bugai Whyoulter, CyrilWhyoulter, Corban Clause Williams and Pauline Williams.Martumili Artists represents Martu artists working across 7communities in the East Pilbara, with its central operationsbased in Newman.
