The Government of Delhi established the Institute at Dwarka subcity of Delhi in 2008. In view of its location across the proposed Delhi Government Hospital, the Department of Training & Technical Education identified the Institute for running courses in health care related areas.

Scope for the Students
Curriculum is designed to enhance awareness among students about the trends in the global arena as well as to improve the analytical skill and management capabilities of the students. Thus pass out students get easy entry in jobs. Moreover, ten days Vipasana residential training (Optional) from the Vipasana International Academy gives an initiation for practical personality development through introspection. In order to provide the real organizational environment, students of full time course, are deputed to complete two months on the job training in the reputed organizations such as:- Cottage Emporium, Khadi Gram Udyog, Delhi University, defense Department, Maruti, Food Corporation of India, Banks, etc.)

Introduction
It’s an effort to highlight glimpses of spectrum of the activities of the institute since 1962 when IBBS (erstwhile CSI) was conceived planned and founded by the Ministry of Home, Govt. of India. However since beginning the IBBS is managed & controlled by Department of Training and Technical Education, Government of NCT of Delhi.
A systematic attempt has been made to orient the students community who cannot bear the cost of expensive management education but want to move towards a job-oriented and fruitful education with regards to Industry-Institute-Interaction.
The institute continues to play its role in the nation-building activities through its continued quest for excellence in quality education in technical and vocational field. The institute today caters for one Full Time course in Business Organisation and Administration and three Part Time Courses in Store-keeping and purchasing, Book-keeping and Accountancy and Salesmanship and Retail Marketing. Our students are highly sought after by the industry. They are the favorites of the leading organization in Government as well as in private Sector. Many of them have attained high offices of distinction in industry, administration, defence and higher technical educational sector. The institute is one of its kinds in the India. In the scheme two months practical training is shaping the trainees to meet the existing as well as future manpower needs of industry. The curriculum has been designed to enhance the awareness among the students about the trends in the environment with regard to new socio-economic and technical condition as well as to improve the analytical skill and management capabilities of the students. To give an initiation for practical personality development through Introspection, from the year (2004) the institute has introduced 10 days Vipassana Residential training from the Vipassana international Academy. The Committee of the Consultants/Experts had given the recommendation, which were later on accepted and approved by the Chief Secretary and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi on 21 Dec, 2009 under the chairmanship of Dr. Amita Dev, Principal, BPIBS
The committee approved that the present one year certificate course of B.O.A. will be converted into 2 year diploma. Further the committee approved that the following 11 diplomas can be started in phased manner:-

The AICTE has approved one diploma i.e. M.O.P.(English) which was to be started from 2011-12, However due to administrative reasons it could not be started, now this diploma will be started from session 2012-13.
LOCATION OF INSTITUTE OF BASIC BUSINESS STUDIES
(PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS COMMERCIAL & SECRETARIAL INSTITUTE)
Institute of Basic Business Studies (Previously known as commercial & Secretarial Institute) is presently functioning in the B.T.C. Pusa building(Opposite R Block Rajinder Nagar), Pusa, New Delhi-110012. It is easily approachable from Pusa Gate and East Patel Nagar. The Institute is in the process of getting it own land for constructing its own permanent building near Wazirpur area of North West Delhi.
The Institute is presently running as a guest Institute in Basic Training Centre, Pusa Delhi & has been provided one exclusive wing with the following basic infrastructure:-
a. A big hallb. One typing laboratoryc. 8 class rooms.d. One library room.e. One accounts section.f. One establishment Sectiong. One boys & girls toilet each.
However the case of having its own building is under process.

Part-Time Courses : One Year Certificate Course in Store Keeping & Purchasing

Pass in Higher Secondary / 12th (of 10+2 Scheme) of C.B.S.E. or equivalent examination with English as one of the subjects. Weightage is given to employed persons i.e. 1% marks are added to the percentage of marks of the aggregate marks of the qualifying examination for one year regular service, subject to a maximum of 5%, on his/her enclosing a Certificate to this effect from his/her employer stating there in the duration of service and the salary drawn. The employment should be in an organization of repute. However, 10% weightage will be given to each higher Academic Qualification i.e. Graduation & Post Graduation.

DURATION OF COURSES
I. Both Full-Time and Part-Time Certificate Courses are of one Year Duration however, the diploma in MOP English is of three years duration.
TIMINGS:
I. Part-Time Courses are conducted in the morning hours i.e. from 7.30 AM to 9.00 AM.
II. Full-Time Courses are conducted from 8.30 AM to 5.00 PM.
NOTE:
1. A candidates who has already passed Full-Time B.O.A. Course and applies for a Part-Time Course will be considered for admission only after considering the fresh cases.
2. A candidate who has undergone full-time B.O.A. Course with a special subject; will not be considered for admission to the same subject in the part -time Course.
3. A candidate will not be allowed to pursue both the part-time and Full-Time courses simultaneously.
AGE LIMIT
For all the courses the minimum age limit is 16 years as on 01.08.2011 & no upper age limit is there.

Note:-
1. Trainees who don’t deposit their tuition fees for next 6 months) by 15th of the month (see details of the month above) will be imposed a Fine of Re. 5/-Per day upto last day of the month.
2. The name of defaulters who don’t pay/deposit the fee and fine in full till last date of the month (see details of the month above) will be struck off from the rolls of the Institute automatically. The amount of their caution money will also be forfeited if they do not take readmission. Such students will be re-admitted only when their parents submit a written statement for the lapse and deposit Rs 100/- as re-admission fee along with fee and fine due, with the institute.
CAUTION MONEY
1. Caution money is refundable within three years of completion of course deducting from it such amount as may be due to Government on Account of loss/damages to equipments, books etc.
2. Caution money of students who don’t attend the Institute after securing Admission or leave the Institute during session will be forfeited. The students who join the Armed Forces within 30 days of joining the training would be exempted from forfeiture of the Caution Money.
3. Caution Money of students who don’t withdraw it within three years after the completion of course may be forfeited by the Government. Students are advised to make a written application for the refund of the Caution Money.
General Information for Students
PRACTICAL TRAINING:
Trainees of the Business Organization & Administration (B.O.A.) Full-Time Course are placed for 2 months practical training in their subject of specialization in the reputed organization within the Territory of N.C.T of Delhi at the end of session.
HOSTEL: No Hostel facilities are available at present. Trainees have to make their own arrangement for their accommodation.
D.T.C. Pass: D.T.C. Concessional Bus Pass facility will be extended to both Full-time and Part-time Students who are unemployed. This facility will be governed by the policies of D.T.C. authorities from time to time.
FINAL EXAMINATION:
(1) Final examination is conducted in the month of August in each session under the supervision of Board of Technical Education, Govt. of Delhi.
(2) Emphasis is placed on progress of each trainee during the entire course.
Extra-Curricular Activities :
Trainees are encouraged in various extra-curricular activities such as Debates, Sports, Cultural programmes etc. during the session under guidance and supervision of student’s adviser. Picnics are not allowed.
